'Cattle Class' or 'Economic Class'

No comments on “'Cattle Class' or 'Economic Class'”
Our news channels has got a new controuversy to discuss throughout this week from our Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, when he commneted 'Economic class' as 'Cattle class' on a social networking site. I doubt whether this news is worth this type of publicity. Like what the news channels always do, they are just concentrating on a point not covering what entirely happened. Tharoor just gave a funny reply to a question from another member in that site. He was asked that "'Tell us minister, next time you travel to Kerala, will it be cattle class?".He replied as this "Absolutely, in cattle class out of solidarity with all our holy cows". He used the term 'holy cows', just for a fun; or may be because he was trying to make fun of Hindu tradition of worshiping cows indirectly, in my opinion too its funny. Nut congress politicians mistook 'holy cows' as themselves and strated crucifiying Tharoor as he discovered a new usage for Economic Class. The term 'Cattle class' is a common usge for 'Economic Class' in Americas because of the bad facilities and less spacing in the Economic class. Our (Inidains, especially Politicians) poor knowledge in American English made us think that usage as huge insult to the travellers in the Economic Class. Some even commented as 90 percent of Indians are travelling in Economic class, without knowing that only around 25 percent of Indians are rich enough to travel on plane in any class. Now before ending this articleI have to tell you one more thing, the most funniest. Yesterday, in my city (Trivandrum), there was a rally by AISF (I think so, not sure of the name) made a rally to protest against the comments of Sasi Tharoor. There is a malayalam proverb related to this act : "Kaala pettennu kataludane kayaredukkuka" - Translating - "When you heard that an Ox has given birth to a cow, You piked a rope to tie that cow" - (Note: Ox never give birth to a cow. Ox is male).

POLITICS AND STUDENTS SHOULD REMAIN APART

POLITICS AND STUDENTS SHOULD REMAIN APART

The most progressive, articulate and inspired spearhead of the most dynamic segment of country’s population is constituted by the student’s community. This vigour and youthful energy fired with idealism cannot be kept bottled up and separate from the national scene. History is replete with examples of students playing a vital role in overthrowing corrupt dictatorial regimes, freeing their people from foreign yoke and launching relentless crusader against social injustice and exploitation. History of the student movements in India can be proud of such deeds. Minimum age for voting has now been reduced to 18 years. Hence, it is neither realistic nor fair to expect students who are generally in this age group, to shun politics. On the contrary, political consciousness among them will have a proper influence on their casting of voter for the strengthening of Indian democracy. So politics and students should not remain apart.
The primary duty of a student is to devote his energy and attention to his studies. He cannot afford to waste his precious time in dirty politics at the expense of financial sacrifices of the parents. Politics should not disturb the students. These two should be separated.
We have seen in our country as to how politicians have destroyed all the ethics and values causing great deterioration in administration, economy, and police and in fact all of society. They indulge in rhetoric and election gimmicks. Indian political scene is crowded with people of degraded moral values for whom power is a means of mere self-embellishment. Consequently, all political parties are only competing in the race of grabbing power for fulfill their ambitions. Today’s politics lacks its human face, using promises and gimmicks as cheap instruments. Our national character will further degenerate if students come under the influence of such nasty game. Atmosphere of schools and colleges should be free from such bad influences, and then only the discipline, decorum and sanctity of educational institutions can be maintained. And by the time a student gains nothing but loses a lot by playing into the hands of politicians. So politics should be far from the students.

The work of officials of the TA is too specialized, since they need to be aware of many complex legal matters. Procedures should also know that AT has defined itself, both for its internal operations, as for the manner in which taxpayers must bring their accounting and administrative work - tax. Also officials of the TA should have a thorough knowledge of the behavior of taxpayers according to their respective economic sectors, as the size of them and on the most common tasks they perform illegal tax evasion, and even the terms of the fraud in these areas.

It is recommended that intensive training programs exist at the entry of officials to the TA. These should last several months or even a year. Staff members must also participate in these intensive training courses when accessing a higher level of responsibility within the TA, or are promoted to another establishment within them.

Another activity my training necessary constituent short refresher seminars. These should be about various legal matters and its modernization. They should also hold seminars to explain the changes in administrative procedures as they occur in the TA. There is also a need for staff members attend short courses when they have to change their area of responsibility or function of their work.

Finally, as with any other institution, the staff should be able to participate in seminars which will enable them to update their professional knowledge.

The main form of training is that which is done through the work itself, where leaders must play a key role. Indeed, the leaders, but to take major decisions, must delegate the work and decisions and then control it, should be a real professors who teach their subordinates the best way to get the work done so they can creatively can resolve the problems they arise. This job training will be provided with an organization-wide effort in editing manuals tax policies in their respective areas, as well as procedures to be used within the AT. Finally, what helps a lot to training at work is a good design of computer software used by government officials. Indeed, insofar as it is clear and easy to use, staff members may be learning on their own how best to do their jobs.

The higher headquarters of the TA not only has to have very extensive and profound knowledge of tax laws, procedures of the TA, how they act in general taxpayers and the ways in which they try to evade their obligations, but also must be very good managers and leaders, i.e., they must be good business managers.
