Every person has equal right to vote in a democracy. Everyone should cast their ballots. Many a times, there are many exceptions. Many people consider casting a ballot, an unimportant practice. This article will inspires those persons. After going through all these real time examples, there were people who are very concerned and careful about exercising their voting rights.
Voted despite hurricane:
Super storm hurricane “Sandy’s “shows devastation at New York and New Jersey. There was loss of lives and money. Vote centers also ripped apart due to hurricane sandy. The process of voting was about to be cancelled. The decision was taken by local authorities. People compelled the vote authorities to cast their ballot. In an emergency arrangement in and around New York and New Jersey, Special voting centers arranged for this purpose. Special ballot papers were introduced in many areas. Generators were used for power supply in these two states, to conduct the voting process smoothly.
Mobile voting centers for destitute:
The psychology to cast ballot between one person surprises many. Dorothy Van, a lady lost everything in a super cyclone. The destitute lady does not have the food and home to live in. She was not well. She had the great zeal to cast her vote, despite her economic conditions. She conveyed her wishes to local authorities there. A mobile voting arrangement created for her, due to illness. She had casted her ballot inside mobile voting machine.
Voting inspiration:
Inspire others to cast their ballot, is a brilliant service to nation. Actor Will Ferrell inspired many voters to cast their ballot. He was a blind follower of President Obama. He supported in his own wishes during President Obama election campaign. He addressed people to vote for Obama. In exchange of this he would whatever people want him to do. He will mow lawns from citizen’s garden, he will dance for them.
Voting at space:
Americans passion to cast their ballot is stupendous. Generally, astronauts who are in space or at International Space Station cannot exercise voting rights. Astronauts expressed their dissatisfaction, over this. They expressed deep interest in casting their votes. After excessive discussions, lastly through special arrangements, space astronauts are able to cast their ballots. Through digital ballots, they are able to cast their ballots, from international space stations.
Rise from dead:
This peculiar incident happened at Detroit. Voting process began. To exercise his vote, one elderly person reached at voting center. Accident happened in this juncture. Suddenly he became unwell and unconscious. Immediately, he was hospitalized. He was declared dead by physicians. There were no relationships between these two incidents. This is not a sudden surprise that an elderly person died in this manner. Everyone surprised, when dead persons rise from bed and asked I want to vote. This surprised attended physicians there. He exercised his voting rights. Then, he was taken back to hospital. He is died within minutes, after exercising his voting rights. It seemed that, he rose from death bed to cast his ballots.
Voting during labor pain:
One can forget her labor pain, to cast her ballots. It may sound unbelievable and surprising, but it is true. It is 100 percentages true. This incident happened at Illinois, US in 2012. Galicia Malone was pregnant and feeling labor pain. In the local hospital, she was admitted by her family. Within ten minutes she should have baby delivered, as told to her by doctors. Suddenly, she remembered that she was about to participate in voting process. Then, she was determined to exercise her voting rights. This startled the doctors there. She gave birth to child, after casting his ballot papers. After this incident, she interviewed to a local radio stations, and she told that, she was always regular with her votes. Labor pain was not so painful, when she casted her ballot.
The greatest Pilgrimage of Mother Nature
I think most of us know the story of a group of film stars who were summoned to Jodhpur courts for hunting black bucks on the initiative taken by Bishnoi community who are famous for their love for Mother Nature. Bishnois are perhaps the only community in the world who love animals and trees as much as they love and respect God. Bishnoi community has a history for their love for Trees and animals dating back to 1730 AD when Bishnois fought for the cause of trees against their own king. Hundreds of members of Bishnoi community died but they did not allow army of the king to cut Khejari trees for burning limestone for construction purpose of his palace.
If we name Khejadli village in Rajasthan in Jodhpur the biggest pilgrimage of Mother Nature that would perhaps describe the place best but most of us in India do not know about such places unless some thing associated with film takes place. You shall be surprised to know that the community trusts in ‘If we can save a tree, we shall sacrifice our head for it as a tree has more value than our heads combined together’ A true sense of selfless sacrifice for the sake of trees and animals and from whom – the uneducated but devoted people of the area.
Rajasthan is famous for different reasons
Rajasthan is famous for its palaces and sculpture, deserts and artificial ponds known as bawdis where the kings arranged to collect water to fulfill the needs of their people and self-use. Rajasthan is also famous for its brave kings and number beautiful cities where tourists come from allover the world but very few people know that Rajasthan is also famous for village Khejadli on international level for having a nature loving community who love Mother Nature more than their own lives.
There is memorial constructed in Khejadli village in memory of more than 350 people died while trying to save Khejari trees as they took the trees in their arms when the army of the king tried to cut them. They happily sacrificed their lives but did not allow soldiers to cut trees. The fight stopped while the king came on the scene and ordered his soldiers to refrain from their act. That was a struggle between forces of self-confidence and army of a king, which ended only when king gave up. The Khejari tree is official tree of Rajasthan today.
There is a temple of Jambheshwar the respected Guru of Bishnois, just behind the memorial where a big gathering takes place on the day of sacrifice of 363 members of the community every year. Although more than 280 years have passed when the incident took place but the community has perhaps more dedicated than it was ever before. They never allow any wrong action against trees and animals in their area and leave all their work behind to gather for the sacred cause of protecting nature.
Pilgrimage of Mother nature
Perhaps that is one of the main reasons that this particular area has lot of deer, Chinkara, black bucks etc openly wandering in the area without any danger to them. If ever a stray case of hunting of animals or cutting down a tree happens, the community reacts very strongly against it. Bishnoi community is a true lover of Mother Nature. I must mention here that this particular area consists of Bishnoi community mainly and not only village Khejadli but also surrounding area is full of natural beauty. A place situated about 10 Km from Khejadli having a big natural water tank attracts rare birds, deer of all species available in the area and other animals that attracts tourists visiting Jodhpur. The love and respect the people of the area have for Mother Nature probably qualify this area to be called as pilgrimage of Mother Nature.

Himalayas are the other name of heaven. They look very beautiful. It has high mountains with flowers and natural beauty. So it’s a wonderful place and it is also known as “The Valley of flowers”.
I and my family members reached Delhi from Hyderabad. The travel agency who took the contract of our tour has received us. It became evening to reach Haridwar from Delhi. At high we made darshan of Ganga harathi and took shelter in a friend’s house which near to it.
Meeting of rivers
Our journey has starts from the next day. The river Alakananda was running with us. We stop at Devprayaga. This is the meeting spot of the Alakananda River with Bhaghiradi River. Bhagiradi rivers come from Gangotri river. Later Rudraprayag comes. This is 165 km away from Haridwar. At Rudraprayag, Alakananda River meets Mandakini River. The meeting of these 2 rivers will look beautiful. We stayed in a guest house in Rudraprayag. We start to govindaghat at early morning 6’oclock in a car and within 2 hours we reached govindaghat. It’s a small place. We took breakfast there and continued our journey by horses. Ghangaria is 13 km away from govindaghat. At that time it started raining and very cold. The way is so narrow and completely filled with rocks. As horses are much habituated with that way so they were continuously moving forward. It was really amazing as those horses are responding when we are them with their names. The horse which I am travelling name is Bhadsha. Though I felt scared of travelling by horse, but due to the beauty of hills and rocks around the way made me forget about all that scariness. After the 6 hours journey we stopped the journey for half an hour to give some rest to the horse. There we have some tiffin paratha and tea. These are available whole way. The river called Lakshmana Ganga runs in the valley. As it is running down and we are travelling up. So while traveling we came across a buendhargir waterfall. Therefore, we reached Ghangaria at afternoon 2.30pm. The people who live in Ghangaria are very good natured people. Their lives are dependent on the tourists. They maintain this place very neat and clean. The People of this place have formed as an NGO group for plastic. The plastic covers and bottles brought by the tourist and thrown were being collected by this group and sent to daharandhun. For every 2km 2 people are cleaning that narrow road though the climate is so cold. By seeing their effort I felt to stop using plastic.
People will be in this place from June to October. Later in winter season the climate becomes cooler. So at that time they shift to a place name Chameli.
We reached the guest house in gangaria. It is very neat and clean. They showed us a short film of “The valley of Flowers”. They served us warm paratha for dinner.
The saptha Srungi Mountains
Our journey starts the next day at morning 5’oclock to hemkund, lokpal tour. This 6km from Ghangaria and it is situated at the height 15,500 feet. The holy place Gurudwar of Sikhs is at there. They believe gurugovind Singh did meditation in previous birth at this place. The atmosphere here is very peaceful. There is a pond named hemkund situated opposite to this gurudwara. The devotees who come here will take bath in hemakund and visit gurudwara. We also took bath and visited gurudwara and prayed there. Then they served warm kichidi and tea to all the devotees. A person is giving hot water to every devote to wash their hands. The toilets in gurudwara are very neat and clean. We even visited lokpal temple and lord Siva temple which are situated beside it. Hindus believe that lord lakhman has performed meditation by carrying lord Vishnu. Lokpal is another name of Lord Vishnu. So Hindus and Sikhs consider this place as mediation land.
There is a Sapthasrungi Mountain on hemkund pond and the mountain is full of lotus flowers. Clouds are floating on the water of this pond. So that place looks very wonderful and beautiful. Our journey started the next morning 8’clock to valley of flowers. Frank S Smith, R.L. Holdsworth is britishers who found this valley and made it popular. While finding the highest mountains people found Kamat Mountain in 1931. So while they are coming down from the mountains they got stuck in the rain. They need to reach the place gangasati. But they reach bhyundar valley. At that time, the clouds were going away and there they saw wonderful scenery which is known as valley of flowers. That place is completely filled with flowers. These britishers were shocked. Till then no person knows about this it seems and only the people who live over there only know about it. Those people thought it was a garden of goddess Parvathi devi. So they used to call it as Deva Bhoomi. That’s why those people never used to enter that garden. They used to believe, if human enters that garden then God will curse them. This valley is 3,658 meters height from the earth. In 1982 government has recognized this valley as ‘National Park of India’. Now this is one of the properties of the world.
Flower valley
We reached near to the beautiful park (the valley of flowers) in a beautiful climate. We purchase tickets and entered into the park. We need to go by foot in the park. After walking 4km we will reach the valley of flowers. By enjoying the beauty of the flowers in the way and by listening to the birds we walked. Then we crossed the river Pushpavathi and reached the valley of flowers. At that time, slight rain started. We found a big rock at one side and 3300m Baminidoor is written on the rock. It is the first step for the valley. How much we walk inside we can see different colors of flowers wherever you see. This flower garden will be up to 8km long and in the middle of these 8km we come across waterfalls and mountains. It looks wonderful with a shining Pushpa river. The flowers orchids, Diacel, Coralville, marry gold, Papillion etc. are in the garden and the butterflies on those flowers. All these make us feel as we are in some dream land. June to October is a good time to visit this flower valley. We enjoyed all those natural beauty and reached our hotel at 4’oclock. They already announced that every day rain falls over there. So we stayed there in the hotel and the next day we started to Godavarighat by horses and reached. There is a facility of going traveling through helicopter to reach Gangaria and this facility is mostly preferred by the people who could not travel through horses. There are many hotels in Gangaria. This valley is present at North side and it is 500 km away from Delhi. We can travel through train or road to reach Haridwar to Delhi. There will be cold climate and rain on the journey of flower valley. So it is good to carry sunscreen lotion, raincoat, umbrella and woolen cloths. The Journey is really a wonderful experience like a beautiful dream.
NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) was established by independent U.S. government agency in 1958 for research and development of vehicles and activities for aeronautics and space exploration. Its goals include improving human understanding of the universe, the solar system and Earth and establishing a permanent human presence in space. NASA, previously the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), was created largely in response to the Soviet Union’s launch of SPUTNIK in 1957. Its organization was well under way in 1961, when Pres. JOHN F. KENNEDY proposed that U.S. put a man on the Moon by the end of the 1960’s. Later unmanned programs (e.g. VIKING, MARINER, VOYAGER, GALILEO) explored other planets and interplanetary space, and orbiting observatories (e.g. HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE) have studied the cosmos. NASA also developed and launched various SATELLITES with Earth applications, such as LANDSAT and communications and weather satellites. It planned and developed the SPACE SHUTTLE and led the development and construction of the INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION.
Spaceflight Missions
The highly remarkable activities of NASA are its spaceflight missions comprising both manned and unmanned. The latter can be either autonomous equipped with scientific tools or supportive, testing tools for manned flights. Initially NASA focused on the space competition with the Soviet Union which eventually won the first round but after that U.S.A. assumed the leading role won victory in the final race to the Moon. Till date most of the solar system has been explored by the unmanned programs. They also came about with telescope for profound space exploration into the orbit surrounding the Earth along with satellites for studying the Earth itself.
Manned Programs
The experiments with rocket plans initiated by NACA was taken ahead by NASA which applied them support for spaceflights, the first of which was one-manned, launched by military rockets. When they focused on reaching the Moon, the solution preferred was though intricate but economical. Supportive missions comprising both manned and unmanned were launched and gigantic rockets along with spacecraft Moon-lander developed. The Moon-landing and ending of the space competition meant a fall in the motion of NASA. Permanent space stations were built with international assistance in order to bring nations close as well as to share the enormous costs of space programs. All over more than 100 manned programs have been executed by NASA since its beginning. Some of the mention worthy manned programs launched by NASA are:
- X-15 rocket plane (1959-1968)
- Project Mercury (1959-1963)
- Project Gemini (1961-1966)
- Project Apollo (1961-1972)
- Skylab (1965-1979)
- Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (1972-1975)
- Space Shuttle program (1972-2011)
Unmanned Programs
Above 1000 unmanned programs have been launched to survey the Earth and the solar system. Along with explorations, communication satellites were also launched by NASA. The missions have been launched either right from the Earth or from the revolving space shuttles.
The first unmanned satellite launched by U.S. was Explorer 1 on January 1958. Its missions have been focusing on the Earth and the Sun, gauging magnetic fields and solar winds among the other facets. A very recent earth mission was the Hubble Space Telescope which landed into orbit in 1990. Some of the mention worthy unmanned programs launched by NASA are:
- Explorer program (1958-)
- Pioneer program (1958-1978)
- Ranger program (1960-1964)
- Telstar (1962-1963)
- Mariner program (1963-1973)
- Surveyor program (1966-1968)
- Helios probes (1974-1976)
- Viking program (1975)
- Voyager program (1977)
- Echo Project (1960- 1964)
Recent Programs
NASA’s current researches include explorations of Mars and Saturn and surveys of the Earth and the Sun. Other operating spacecrafts programs comprise MESSENGER for Mercury and New Horizons for Jupiter and Pluto. The New Horizons mission to Pluto was initiated in 2006 and is currently on the way for a Pluto flyby in 2015. It has studied some of Jupiter’s inner moons.
On December 4, 2006, NASA outlined for a permanent Moon-base. The mission was to set up the Moon-base by 2020 and make it operational from 2024. But in 2009, the Augustine Committee found the program to be on an unsound route. Present U.S. President Barack Obama ordered to close down the existing plans, including the Moon-base and deviated NASA’s focus on manned missions to Mars and for the International Space Station
On September 2011, NASA prepared to launch the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle towards the Moon, close-Earth asteroids and one day Mars. The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is planned for an unmanned trial launch on Delta 4 Heavy Rocket on 2013.
On August 6, 2012 NASA launched the robotic rover Curiosity on Mars.
