Being capital of India Delhi is the place where more and more people come to visit. Delhi is a political city but there are lots of historical places ihere to visit. Delhi is one of the place where the foreigners and people in our country would like to visit at least once in their life. Its been a changed Delhi after the recent CW games. We have seen a cleaner Delhi more recently. Places like Akshardham Temple have become one of the hottest place to visit although it is situated some what in exterior. There are plenty of places worth to see in Delhi few of them I have mentioned here in this article.
Red Fort (Lal Quilla) is one of historical place in Delhi. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 17th century situated in Old Delhi nearby Yamuna river. Design and architect itself says the story of Mughal creativity. Every year on 15th August when we achieved independence from Britishers prime minister of our country hoists the national flag on red fort.
Jama Masjid too was built in 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It is the largest and the best known Mosque in India. It is located in Chandni Chowk the busiest place of Delhi.
Qutub Minar is the tallest minaret in India, built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak and finally completed by iltutmish. It is situated in Mehrauli. In present days it is not allowed for tourists to visit inside this minaret as few years back an accident occurred there which took lives of several school kids.
Zoological Park of Delhi is the largest Zoo of India having lots of animals. Its a great outing for day to visit here. All sort of animals are kept in here.
Lodhi Garden situated on Lodhi road it is a nice place to visit as normally we don't find such of greenery in Delhi. Its great place to spend some time here.
Humayun's tomb built by Mughal emperor Humayun in 16th century is one of world heritage site. Located in Nizamuddin its one of the place where most of the people visit if they come to Delhi.
Birla Mandir situated in west of Connaught place this temple was built by GD Birla in 1938 A.D. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Luxmi has a big garden. This is one of the site where local people go for picnic.
ISKCON Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna situated in Greater Kailash has one of the largest complex. People from all over the world come to visit this temple.
India Gate is one of the popular spot to visit in Delhi.Situated on Rajpath this is nearby Rashtrapati Bhavan. Children Park is nearby India Gate. Surrounded by a lake where the tourist can have fun of boating.
Rajghat,Shantivana,Shaktisthala,Veerbhoomi,Vijayghat are all samadhis of great people of India and are one of the spot to visit in Delhi.
Lotus Temple an architectural masterpiece of Delhi is an attraction of Delhi. Most of the tourists usually visit this place which is peaceful place surrounded by garden. This is basically Bahai house of worship made in 1986 situated in Kalkaji Delhi.
Doll Museam is good place for kids to visit as there is collection of dolls of all the countries from different culture. It is situated near ITO.
Old Fort (Purana Quilla) s said to be the oldest fort of Delhi which is believed to be founded by Pandavas when they ruled Delhi ( Indraprastha). Situated nearby Zoo is also one of the attraction of Delhi. There is a lake nearby the fort where tourist can take fun of boating.
Akshardham is situated in East Delhi is now the center of attraction. People who come Delhi don't go without seeing it. The architecture of the Temple is worth seeing. Laser show is one of the thing which is worth seeing in the temple.
Shopping in Delhi:
When it comes to shopping Delhi has many places which offers shopping there are lots of shopping malls and specific places to do shopping.Some of the exciting shopping places are mentioned below:
Connaught Place: Connaught place basically a heart of Delhi is the most favoured place for shopping.Connaught place has lots of showrooms where one can buy clothes,jewelleries and anything. Janpath and Palika Bazaar are famous places. From Janpath one can buy clothes and handicraft items in cheaper rates. Don't forget to bargain as the shopkeepers quote high rates for the tourists here and often come down to half the rates they quote at first. Similar is Palika Bazaar which is famous place for shopping in Delhi.
Karol Bagh: This is one of the shopping place in Delhi. One can find good showrooms here. People normally come here to buy wedding clothes and jwellaries from Karol Bagh. Near is the metro station and one can find an easy connectivity from anywhere in delhi to Karol Bagh.
Chandni Chowk: This is situated in Old Delhi. Its a busy place where there is whole sale market of electronic goods,clothes. There are particular places in Chandni Chowk where one can have a good food which is something special about this place. This is the oldest market of Delhi and it remains crowded on normal working days.
There are many other famous markets in delhi where one can do shopping like Lajpat Nagar,Sarojini Nagar,Gandhi Nagar and various shopping malls.
