As the name suggests, it's a coffee house in Pune located in the Kothrud area near MIT college. What's good about this coffee house? Good about this coffee house is its "Cold Coffee". It's cold coffee is so fabulous that you can never keep yourself away from tasting it.
By seeing above picture, i cannot resist myself from drinking cold coffee, rather no one can resist himself/herself from tasting it if the person knows about it. Coffee house is located just near to MIT college, Pune thus attracting all youngsters, students studying in MIT and people staying near by. Not only people staying in kothrud are attracted but also people , who stays at a far distance from coffee house, who are really fond of cold coffee and that too of Durga, then they do give their appearance atleast on weekends. From my point of view, this is the best place to hang out with your friends and enjoy cold coffee alongwith crowd that turns up every evening.
You will find a pamphlet, shown in above snapshot at Durga Coffee House. I bet there is no best place where you can get a yummy and fabulous cold coffee as cheap as this one, only for Rs.8 per glass. After making cold coffee, chocolate powder is sprinkled over coffee which makes it even yummier and tastier. This place is very much famous in Pune. Apart from cold coffee, you will also get spicy pav bhaji, which you can enjoy but cold coffee is at its best.
MTR, short for Maville Tiffin Rooms, is one of the oldest, yet still one of the most popular south Indian restaurants in Bangalore.
Location of the restaurant
It was established way back in 1924 on the Lalbagh Road in the small town of Maville which is in the heart of the city.
The uniqueness of the restaurant is that it is the only major restaurant in Bangalore where a homely atmosphere is still maintained. The waiters are in their traditional dress and the foods served are the perfect traditional items, even though items like sandwiches do find their place at times. Presence of masala or any such stuff is uncommon. The MTR restaurant is the ideal place for a veggie looking for a family atmosphere. Hence, most of the people who come here for a visit are from the not-so-rich class who prefer a modest setting.
The restaurant remains closed on Mondays.
Cuisine
The food is purely vegetarian with both lunch and dinner comprising of almost 15 items. The starting item is usually a glass of grape juice or any fruit juice. Ice creams and fruit salads are also included. The cuisine, being South Indian- South Kannada to be more specific- is also known as Udipi Cuisine.
There is a smaller MTR eatery at KR Road which provides a good place for a quick snack or ice cream.
Awards
MTR was awarded the best South Indian Tiffin Restaurant by the “Times of India”.

Description of once favorite restaurant could be, good food, great service, great rates, nice view. etc etc. However for me, my favorite restaurant has a different criteria. Its my favorite place because I have a lot of good memories of that place. I feel attached to this small road side restaurant because I shared a lot of laughs and cries at this very place.
I come from a small town that has now developed into a small city. People have migrated from different places and a lot of new faces dominate and change my home place everyday. However, I have been in the town for 20 years of my life. As it was a small town had a few restaurants years back, and out of the few, Ratna was the biggest restaurant in the town. So with choose of class avilable, my family and friends ventured more than offend at Ratna. I remember all Diwali's, Birthdays, the only name on the appointment was Ratna. I remember my brother, who at that time couldn't read the Menu, would always say PAV BHAJI, even before we start discussing what to order. I remember my Dad surfing the menu with a promise " Lets order something different" and end up ordering the same Tadka Dal and Paneer, as always. He would always allow me to order everything I wanted, and then scold me for leaving food unfinished. Passing the highway, a small glims of this restaurant brings back all those memories.
Our college was 3 KM away from the restaurant, I remember me with two of my friends, chatting for 3 KM to make it to the restaurant. The breakfast during lunch hours was the funniest thing we three did. Due to the distance between college and this restaurant, most of the college sweethearts managed to find a corner for themselves. I remember theier red face the moment they saw three of us entering the Restaurant.
I remember missing Ratna, when I didn't get filter coffee in Mumbai. I remember Missing Ratna, when a Dubai restaurant charged me 12 A.E.D for a Masala Dosa. I remember making a wish list, wherein I mentioned I would like to visit Ratna one more time. The day I returned from aboard, the very next sunrise, I woke my mom at 9 asking her to drive me to Ratna for breakfast. I remember my husband thinking I am crazy to have dragged him in a crowded restaurant just to drink coffee. I remember the hours both of us spent there, trying to make sence of Capital market. He was explaining me what Derivatives are, and I was busy thinking he is too smart for me. All these memories stay and they have a single background in Common. They all started for me at this place, and the place reminds me of all these days that passed by.
Today it is the smallest resturant in town, it doesnt have those chef's as they had before. The rates have gone up. And the place doesnt look that good. However everything thing ages and age is what makes it beautiful .
" Paradise" is still the most common word used by tourists to describe the lush island of golden beaches and brillient blue waters.I decided thatit was time to unleash our tropical side and experience for ourselves the much talked about magic of Sri Lanka and what better time to enjoy the sun and sand than during the famous Hikkaduwa beach festival.
The island kept up its promice of being a friendly nation right from the Bandaranayake international airport with its courteous and smiling immigration officers to the locals of the villages and cities. The drive to colombo took longer than the said 40 minutes with bouts of traffic with congesting the already busting streets. However the city of colombo was a treat. It is clean with tree lined wide roads ,great shops and restuarents. The apartment we stayed in overlooked the ocean and was set in the middle of a residential area neighbouring a deliciously stylish restuarent.
God created the nature. Nature created the man. Man is destroying the nature. Nature is beautiful. Nature is wonderful. And also nature is a destroyer. The man who enjoys the nature cannot destroy the nature. Beaches are the most beautiful fruits of the nature.
