In a certain small town, there lived two friends. One of them was a rich merchant. His name was Somesh. His friend’s name was Madhu. He was a trader. Madhu was a dishonest person.
As time went by, Somesh business became so bad that he not only lost money but got into debt. Somesh was very unhappy. It was no use staying in the city any longer. So he decided to go to another town in search of a job. He had to sell almost everything he had in order to pay off his debts. Only a heavy iron beam was left.
Before going to another city, his friend Madhu asked, ``is there anything I can do for you’’. Somesh replied, ``I have a heavy iron beam which I would like to leave with you.’’ Madhu said,’’ of course, I will keep it for you. I shall give it back to you whenever you want it’’. So somesh left the heavy iron beam with friend Madhu and left the town. After many years when Somesh returned, he went to visit his friend Madhu. Somesh asked his friend Madhu to return his heavy iron beam. Madhu had no intention of returning the iron beam because he knew it would fetch a good price if he were to sell it. Madhu looked very worried. He said, ``I am very sorry. I put the iron beam in my house, but the beam was eaten away by mice.’’
After a few days, Somesh went to his friend’s house and invited his friend’s son Somesh for dinner. Somesh however, hid the boy in the basement of his house.
Madhu accused Somesh of kidnapping his son because no bird can fly off with a grown up, finally, they decided to go to court.
Then somesh narrated the whole story. On hearing this Madhu felt ashamed. Then the magistrate ordered Madhu to return the iron beam to Somesh and Somesh to return Madhu’s son.
