Patriotism means love for one’s mother land.
Patriotism has been defined as a man’s love for his country. It is one of the noblest sentiments, which a human being can develop and carry in his heart. Patriotism is some thing natural for a person who is not selfish or living for himself. It is a sacred bond between a citizen and this country.
The world has produced many patriots in different ages. Pluto was a great patriot who had the problems of his country- Greece- to his heart. He, there fore, proved to be a great politician and wrote books on the social and political problems of his country, which became important milestones in world nature.
In India itself a number of patriots have played important part in the political struggle of different ages. Lala lajapat rai, Bhagat singh and many others had been fights for freedom. All the great deeds and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru were inspired by their love for their country and their country men.
Patriotism of the bygone days dose not hold good day. The narrow nationalism of the middle ages has given way to broad internationalism of day.
The new outlook of patriotism goes beyond the narrow frontiers of a country and make human begins look at the whole as one country.
The new nation of patriotism enables the world to breathe an air of peace. Of course, there are still certain leaders in certain countries who continue to think in terms of old ides of patriotism and they find their national interest always in comfit with the interests of other nations. They are always a source of danger to the peace of the world. Under the grab of patriotism they are the enemies of their countrymen and of humanity at a large.
Our occupations
For 70% of the people living in villages, farming is an important occupation. This is called agriculture. The farmers cultivate the land produce all the basic food grains, pulses, vegetables, cereals and fruits. The people who work in the fields are called ryots or farmers.
Food, clothes and shelter are the basic needs of the people. In order to busy these needs, we need money. Any work that helps to earn money is called occupation. The people do different kinds of jobs depending on their learnt, interesting and knowledge.
Cattle rearing or dairy farming is also a part of farming, the cattle feed on the farm produce. Most of the farmers rear cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep. Cow, buffaloes and goats give us milk. Leather got from animals and Wool is got from sheep and some other.
Farming is called the mother of all occupations. Many things are made from the produce of the farm. The example is cotton used to make cloth. We get sugar and jaggery from sugar cane. Cooking oil is also got from sunflower, ground nut and cotton seeds.
The different kinds of occupations are farming, pottery, carpentry, mining, poultry farming, dairying, fishing and some other occupations.
Fishing is one of the important occupation people of the coastal areas. People of the areas get variety of fish from sea, river and ponds.
Poultry is also another important occupation. This occupation is gives us egg and chicken meat.
