How much are we well-disciplined in certain things! Paying rent, tax and insurance premiums at correct time, repairing refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioner when they give small indications of problems, servicing our cars and motor bikes at the correct time, paying housing loans and kid’s fee at correct time etc etc. But while doing all these things without mistake, we often forget some important things of our life. Tell me, who is most near to us, is it our spouse, kids, parents or someone else? Or is he or she our dearest friend? Truth is that, it’s no one else except our body that stays along with us whole through our life! But when we are doing all duties of our life neglecting our body and health, we forget one thing, “If our body is not there, we are nothing. Also, any harm to our body can affect us and our peace of mind a lot”. Yet why are we not giving it sufficient care? Even a small pain in eye can break your regularity in work. A knee pain can cause disturbances while you sit before your personal computer. Yet, why are we behaving as if we know nothing?
Prone to diseases and aging
It’s true, if we don’t give enough care to our body more chances are that you become a patient very soon. Also, a person at early 40’s may appear at 50’s. Yes, if health is lost something is lost. More wear and tear means body is losing its capability and health. Provide it with sufficient nutritional food and regular exercise to keep it function without any difficulties. As working a damaged machine could worse its condition, it’s the case of our human bodies too!
Only one body through out our life
It’s really a fortune to get a body with no defects, in full health and beauty. How many people are born on earth with some defects! Perfectly toned body is a gift given by God. But, the fortune that we get through our birth we often forget to maintain it properly. As said, we get life only once same is the case of our body too and most of the parts can’t be replenished though we can provide some alternatives or artificial ones. Remember, alternatives can never be our substitutes. Even those who are born with defects get over those defects by strengthening themselves in something else. But less care is given by those who get it as a worth gift.
Take care of kids, but…..
Parents always keep an eye on their kids. They are worried if he falls or get injured. They teach kids how to eat, bath, drink, play and a lot of things. They are also interested in feeding and teaching them stories. Even at teens, they are always aware of their kids and always make them remember, “Take care of your health”. But they often forget to keep an eye on what their kids eat. Fast food can invite a lot of danger and parents themselves are giving pocket money to kids to buy food from outside. I am sure, majority of parents of teenagers would agree with me.
Starting new habits at teens
When kids reach their teenage, they feel as if they have grown and they begin to show self dependency in everything. They won’t seek opinion of elders for doing things. Consequently, they start new habits imitating ads and friends. For girls, new trend is ‘be ultra slim’ and for that, they are ready to starve even for one week or two. Skipping breakfast is another bad habit most commonly seen in kids. When children are young, parents may be strict in their food habits. But when they reach teens, they find new excuses everyday to make, ‘skipping breakfast’ a usual habit. For boys, six pack is their weakness. Some may even depend on medicines to attain it without willing to do exercises. They are not patient enough and a bit lazy too. Such medicines may adversely affect heart functions and most surprising fact is that even after knowing its consequences, many are adopting this easy method.
If health is lost something is lost
It’s true, good health is one among our most valuable assets and if it’s lost, it’s sure something is lost. Also, every people want to remain healthy and stay young. It’s to be noted that maintenance of our body and health is in our own hands and we can’t ignore the fact that it’s the same thing we forget most.
Stomach is your dumping yard
It’s a usual habit to eat everything we like, tasty and spicy. We never care for its nutritional values. Sometimes, it’s a hobby to eat while we sit, walk and talk to keep that work going on. If you are aware of your health, no doubt, you spend less time on eating and more time on work and exercise. Even an interesting gossip can make you eat a lot without your knowledge. Some people can’t sit before computer or TV without snacks in hand. For some people, sweet after meal is compulsory. Be aware, your stomach is not a washing machine to work continuously to clean everything you dump inside it.
Exercise? I will start next week
It’s a common sentence heard everywhere. Everyone wants good body and good health. Yet only a few are willing to cut those extra calories through a brisk walk or regular exercise. Why so? Also, it’s a hobby to postpone exercise to next day or week, including me. Why are we postponing? Why can’t we begin today itself, at least for 10-15 minutes?
Where is my coffee? Can you give me a glass of water?
Computers have made men lazy. They are so addicted to this electronic box that they can’t even get up for 1 minute to drink a glass of water. Instead they may ask someone else or just postpone it to next hour. When we are not providing our body with sufficient water, we are damaging our health, elasticity of skin and thus inviting aging more near. It’s the same case of coffee too. Some people are so addicted to such drinks that sitting before computer or office table, they just intake a lot of tea and coffee that can cause a lot of damage to our cells, body and health. Through tea, we intake a lot of sugar too. What about intestine problems by the excess intake of tea and coffee? So who is responsible for such unhealthy habits? Can we blame our boss or family members for that? Never! That’s why I told earlier, it’s in our hands to maintain our body and its health.
My father was fully energetic till 95
Many people do have a myth that if their parents have no old age problems, it will be their case too. It’s just a myth needed to be broken. Life styles are changing. We are changing. Living conditions and our eating habits are changing. It’s not similar to the life of 30 years before. So, if your father was a chain smoker, it doesn’t mean you can also smoke 10 cigarettes a day. If he has lived healthy till 100, it doesn’t mean you need no exercise at all! So, do your annual check ups regularly to avoid future complications. Also, never adopt bad habits of your parents in their past to your future.
Why should I go for an annual checkup?
If our kid gets a small cold or fever, within seconds we rush to our nearby hospital. But, what about us? We carry our diseases as long as we can do till it reaches a stage where we can’t tolerate. That’s the reason why we loss our health earlier. Also, we always carry a myth that we are fit and our body can fight against any disease. But truth is that, as we go forward we lose some health and resistance too. So, it’s our duty to keep what we already have and prevent it from further losing. It’s the habit of every person to keep going till our body parts function and never cares for its repair or maintenance. It’s true more than 50% of our worst conditions occur due to ignorance in its early stages. Why are we doing so?
Why should we wait?
Why are we not able to understand our body and its functions? Why are we not checking at its early stages itself? Why we should wait till it stops? Prevention is always better than cure. If we are willing to apply that principle in everything around us, why are we exempting ourselves from that? Do begin today itself.
Body is our temple
So, keep it hygienic and in good conditions so that you can run your life properly on its wheels. If any of those wheels or its engine parts got damaged, it can affect not only you but many who totally depend on you – may be your spouse, kids, parents or even boss or subordinates. At any case, our body can’t be ignored. So, know the importance of your best friend and keep it fit and in good condtion. Never postpone it to tomorrow, but begin this new habit from today itself.
Just listen with your heart what’s it saying. May be some sorrows hidden somewhere waiting for your response to happen!
