Hi friends in this article let us discuss about the story of the film "Varanam Ayiram"

The film starts when Krishan(older Surya) was not feeling well and after returning from walking he blood vomits and then his condition goes critical.Then the doctor comes in and says that he was no more.Then the news is passed to his sun Surya who was the major in The Indian Army and also a NSG commander.

Surya was flying in a helicopter when he received the information and in spite of father's death he request his chief to continue the operation.Still he has got time to reach the destination and in this time Surya starts to think about his father.He also remembers his past where his mother was narrating their love story.

Then the film goes to the flash back and Malini(Simran - Surya's mother) refreshing her college life when she was proposed by Krishnan.At this time, the first song of the film ,"Munthinam parthene...." will entertain us and it is so pleasing to hear and this song and the singers Naresh Iyer and Prashanthini have won many awards for this song.

In fact all the songs in this film were super hit, thanks to the music director Harris Jayaraj and Lyricist Thamai.In this particular song Krishnan comes has a college boy in 1980's and most of the song's shooting was taken in Puducherry.The director made sure that all the hair style and dressing remembers the 80's.

Then Malini married Krishan and Surya was born and at that time they were staying in a small house but they were happy.After some years Shreya, Surya's sister, was born in Calicut.It was also shown that Surya gets lost for a while when the family went for beach and from that time Surya deceided he will always be with his father and never forget him.

Then the family gets shifted from Calicut to chennai and Surya and his dad came in a lorry with the luggage.Krishnan found that the driver was drunken and so he doesn't wants to take risk as his son was staying with him and he starts to drive the lorry and asked Surya not to tell her mother.

Then Surya grows up and  his father become a role model for him as he taught everything that includes how to bowl swing bowling in cricket.Even he was the inspiration for Surya in music as Krishnan encouraged Surya whenever Surya plays guitar by dancing with Malini.

But Krishnan had the habit of smoking.Once he also asks Surya not to smoke as he does as it was bad for health.When Surya asked his dad, then why he was smoking, his father replied he had this habit from his college days.He also advices him not to talk with girls in road and gave permission to invite his girlfriends to house.Meanwhile Surya was threatened and  by some college guys thinking that Surya was in love with his classmate Arthi.In fact they injured Surya by slapping in his face.

Surya was very angry and after seeing his frustrations Krishnan asked Surya to do the right thing.Surya understood this and the next day he goes and meet that college boy and he also beats him.After beating that college boy Sury was ver happy and says he will speak with Arthi and no one can stop him.

During this sequence next song comes,i.e "Yethi Yethi...." sung by Benny Dayal, Naresh Iyer and Solar Sai.This song contains dances in michael Jakson style which was taken in sets and also in roadside.This was a very fast song and it was also hit.

Then Surya joins Sri Moogambikai college in Trichi and there during first year he was also subjected to ragging, but later as the days went he excelled in music and later during the third year he was very brave and was not afraid of anybody.He didn't study well and had arrears.After finishing his final exams he left Trichi to Chennai and in the train he met Meghna(Sameera Reddy).

At first he was excited and he didn't speak to her.But later to his suprise Meghna introduce herself to Surya and said she already saw him in her college,REC Trichy during a musical competition.Later Surya proposes her and Meghna was shocked to hear this.Then he takes his guitar and starts to play the famous Tamil song "En Iniya Pon Nilave...."

But couldn't understand how he could propose her at first sight and she is not intereseted in love at first sigh

The Surya asks her three questions

i)Are you married?

ii)Do you have any lover?

iii)Are you engaged?

When Meghna gave negative answer for all the questions Surya challenges here that wherever she go he will come and marry her.Then she asks her sory for disturbing her and also ashs her to take rest.Then he takes his guitar and he sang his own composition song "Nenjikul Peythidum".

When the film was released this song "Nenjikul Peythidum..." sung by Hariharan was a smash hit and every TV channels used to play this song and all college students and many others used to hum this songs.The picturization of the song was also superb that includes settings and also taken in Taj Mahal.The theme of the song is the dream sequence where Surya imagines dancing with Meghna in many wonderful locations that also includes Taj Mahal, Taj hotel Mumbai.

Then they reach Chennai and after that Surya finds that his father has to pay debts and after watching this he temporarily starts a company and gets a project from TVS and manages to pay the debt and also finishes their unfinished construction work of their new house.

After that all were happy and he comes to Meghna again and but this time she was shocked to hear that Meghna was leaving to USA for higher studies.Inspite of this, Surya promised he will come and meet her wherever she go and whatever part of the world it may be.

Then Surya applys for American Visa and there when he was asked about the reason he said that her girl was there in USA and he needs to go and take her back again.He was also granted visa and he also thanks his dad who encouraged him to go to USA.

Then he goes to USA and he starts to search for Meghna in the university she was studying.There he managed to find her address and also reaches her home and all these incidents were beautifully taken with the help of the background song "Neyindri Nanumillai....Om Shanti Om Shanti...." by Clinton and S.P.B. Charan.

Then he stays with her for 90 days and another super hit song "Adiyen Kolluthe..." sung by Benny Dayal, Krish and Shruti Haasan will please your ears.This was taken mostly across the University of California and also  in many places in that city, and this song appears in the screen when Meghna accepts Surya's love.

But tragedy occurs when Meghna was killed in a bomb blast.Surya calls her parents and informs the death of his lover.This is a very touching scene as he cries while he talks to his parents.Fantastic acting performance by Surya and his expression was awesome.

Then he returns to India and he couldn't forget Meghna and as a result he starts using drug.He also become an addict and couldn't stay without his drugs.At this time she meets Priya, Krishnan's friend's daughter.Later in the film it was shown that Priya was having soft corner for Surya right form her young age.

While he was addicted to drugs, he sings a song callled "Ava ena ena thedivantha Anjale" thinking of Meghna and this song has won many awards as it was the most listened song by the audience that year.This was sung by Karthik and prasanna and this is a folk song.

When he was crossing his limits as he started to use more drugs Krishnan tries to stop him and after some point Krishnan asks him to go to some tourist place where his mind will be changed and relaxed.So Surya leaves for Kashmir and there could realise some change as he begins to control of drugs.

There he found that Aditya who was the son of Shankar Menon was kidnapped.He already knew Shankar Menon, when he met him while he was travelling back to India after losing Meghna in USA.In fact Shankar Menon was the man who tried to help him when he was depressed.

So Surya decides to help Aditya and some how he managed to rescue Aditya from the terrorist gang.While he was staying in Shankar Menon house he was very happy playing with Aditya and as a matter of fact this has changed his mind an he was started to think of his new life.

Then he comes to Chennai and informs his parents about his desire to join the Army.First Malini hesitates as he was the only son, but Krishnan later explained the situation and got permission for Surya.Then he attends training and he also become an NSG commander and most of the scenes in this part were taken in Indian Military Academy.

Then Priya comes to the Academy to meet Surya.Then both fell in love and after that they get married and have a son.This was featured by a beautiful Carnatic song "Annal Maele...." sung by  Sudha Raghunathan.This was a very pleasant song nad this is the favourites ong of the film's director Gautam Vasudev Menon.

Suddenly one day Krishnan dies due to throat cancer and the film returns to present.By this time Surya who was the Commando reaches the destination where the terrorist have kidnapped some journalist and a masked man, who was Gautam, shows the exact location of the terrorists.

After this successful rescue operation, Surya returns home to see his father.Then Surya,Priya,Malini and Shriya let go his father ashes in the sea an Malini says that Surya's father will always be watching us and the film ends when all the four walk away smiling

#)Hotel Rwanda

This is one of the best Inspirational movies  and it was directed by Terry George.This film is a true story based on the mass killing which took place in Rwanda due to internal conflicts between Tutsi and Hutus people which resulted in death of lakhs of life.Don Cheadle has done the character of  Paul Rusesabagina.

This film is about a man called Paul Rusesabagina who is the manage of the hotel called as Sabena Hotel des Mille Collines.When the civil war started in Rwanda due to corruption many Hutus were killed by Hutus and as result the entire country was under violence.Paul gave accommodation to many refugees in the hotel and saved many life.In fact this film is also called as Africa's Schindler's list.

At one stage when the shortage of water and food supply occurs they even went to the extent of using the swimming pool water and this was also helpful for saving thousands of people.At last all the refugees in the hotel were saved by the UN and they were taken to their camp.This film was released in 2004 and won appreciation from all.

#)The Green Mile

This film is based on 1996 Stephen King's novel and it was released in 1999.Tom hanks played a wonderful role in this film.This film story goes back to 1935 where Tom Hanks who was old at present narrates his story to his friend.He was a correction officer who was in charge of the death row inmates at Louisiana's Cold Mountain Penitentiary.

The reason why the film is called by Green mile is that for those prisoners who are going to be executed this is going to be their last mile.Life goes on for Tom until one day where a new inmate John Coffey, who was convicted for raping and killing the children.He was ver huge and secen feet tall.

But later in the film it was shown that he was innocent and moreover he also had an extraordinary power.this was first shown when he gave life to a mouse which was crushed by another officer in the prison.Later Tom finds that John had  this power and also helps his friends wife who had brain tumor, to be cured with the help of John.

Later before executing him John holds the hands of Tom and in this Tom can visualise that John didn't killed the child and in fact was trying to save them.After knowing that John was innocent. Tom also gave him a chance to escape from the prison but John hesitates.Later in the film it was shown that Tom has received some of the power of John when he was holding hands with him and this made him to live a longer time than other humans.

#)Peaceful Warrior

This is another inspirational movie and it is also based on a true story.This was based on the novel written by Dan Millman, "Way of the Peaceful Warrior".In fact this was the real story of Dan.Dan is a young student who wants to win the National Championship in Gymnastics and also wants to represents USA in the Olympic to win the gold medal.

But one of his weakness is that he used to drink and he is also weak with respect to girls.One day he met a man called Socrates at a local stores.There he could find that Socrates had Gymnastic skills that amazed him.When he asked Socrates how he could do that, Socrates first hesitates but later he asks him to drop his bad habits.

Dan also followed his words for a while but later when he was asked to clean Socrate's toilet, Dan was fed up and he started to drink again.And one day he met with an accident and the doctor said he couldn't participate in Gymnastics and it was a miracle that he was saved.

But Socrates trained, and motivated him and moreover he also showed him what is life and explained that the only thing that keeps life happy is that travelling towards the destination which is better than obtaining it.It is the journey in this life that keeps one happy.This was a great motivation for Dan and to every one's surprised he proved he was fit enough to participate in the National Championship and also won the title.

#)The Pursuit of Happyness

This is a very touching movie and it is based on the true story of  Chris Gardner.Will Smith has done this character and he was also nominated for the Academy awards for the best actor.This is the story of a man who was homeless and lost everything and later with his hard work and self confidence begins a new life.

During the 1980's Chris runs his family by selling Osteo National bone-density scanners which is costlier than that of X ray but it can give a clear image than that of X rays.Before becoming a salesman his aim was to become a doctor, but he decides to drop that plan as it might take more than ten years to complete.

But this decison made her wife unhappy and at one instant when Chris salesman job was not at its best she decides to get separated from him and after some months she also leaves their son to Chris.Chris struggle ver hard and he also lost his house as he couldn't pay his rent.

This resulted him to spend the nights in a airway station with his son.The he decides to work as a stockbroker and he fought very hard for the stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter and he also underwent 6 months training where he was not paid.He used to arrive very early and make around 200 calls per day without taking rest and leave the office very late.

Apart from him 19 others were also competing for this post, but he finally managed to get this job.An this gave him the confident to lead his life and at present he is the founder and CEO of Gardner Rich & Co.the image below shows the Chris Garner.Actually Chris Gardner published his autobiography "The Pursuit of Happyness" on may 23, 2006

 

 

I grew up reading Tinkle comics and other comics too, but having an Indian touch to it, Tinkle has made it's impact on me.That's not only true some 10 years back, it's also true till now.The publishers , actually the creators of tinkle are the famous Indian story compiling group called Amar Chitra Katha(in short we'll call it ACK).They are one of the famous and one of the old story tellers, with well known publications like the amar chitra katha and the tinkle monthly.They also have a long list of well known comic characters like Suppandi, kalia the crow, tantri, shambu,etc.,.And that's not all, their mission statement says that they intend to become one of the most favoured and top entertainment and educational media provider for the youth.In their mission statement, they have also mentioned about steps to make the experience more intriguing, encourage the children to bilateral thinking and improve their creativity.But I must say, there are fans ranging from kids to adults who would love to read a Tinkle.

Tinkle was one of the first nation wide comics for children and it was the first to give more than stories- comics, puzzles, quizzes, contest and other features in a unique mix targeted at school children.India book house owned the Tinkle but ACK bought the rights by 2007.And who was the editor-Anant Pai was the founding editor of the Tinkle,those who have read Tinkle must have seen some column dedicated to the general knowledge , by Uncle Pai, well that's the editor himself, with an alias.He was also the one behind the ACK.The history of Tinkle dates back to 1980s when the first edition of tinkle was printed.Also unlike other Indian comics, Tinkle boasts of certain character and columns, that never change with the changing issues.Only the stories and content of the column changes.hence one can say that Tinkle has been instrumental in helping school children across the country.As mentioned before, there are some characters of Tinkle, that when you say the name itself, people recognise the name of the magazine-Tinkle.The fame of tinkle is so much that it has even been read by people of fame, in their childhood,including our former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

 

Let's see about some of the famous characters that Tinkle still carries - one story that gives children an idea of good, bad, friendship etc is Kalia the Crow .This character is featured in the famous series "kalia the crow"( obvious isn't it!).The plot is most of the time, two friends(bad) - Chamataka and a crocodile-DoobDoob  a loyal friend but somewhat stupid crocodile, together they try to capture and eat two rabits, and Kalia the crow outwits them all the time.Time and again, to avoid redundancy, other characters- a bear and an elephant are used in the plot.Sometimes to spice things up, a female companion of Kalia(I don't remember the name) is combined in the plot.Imagine- a crow, a fox, a crocodile and two rabbits(plus 3or 4 side characters) and this crew has captured readers for almost two decades with different stories!.

This next character we are talking about is a top priority celebrity among the Tinkle characters.It's Shikari Shambu!.He is usually portrayed as a very lazy yet, unusually lucky hunter, but the world around him assumes him to be brave and powerful hunter,who captures something at the end of the story always.He usually runs away from the dangerous animal, but due to the luck we mentioned earlier, he ends up capturing the animal, single handed.The amazing thing is this character is always portrayed with a hunter's hat, face half covered with the hat and only facial feature visible is his doodling moustach!Nothing else, yet he has fans all over the country.

To give an idea of how things go wrong, when you are thinking wrong, Tinlke has dedicated a character, that always ends up with disaster.Time and again, this character also uses modern day gadgets, while it's about a minister during the age of Kings.The character is noe other than Tantri the Mantri.He always tries to kill his King so that he can occupy the rule, but his plot always backfires.But relentlessly he has been coming up with new ways to bring down the king, for the last two decades!

Then the last, but (believe me!) not the least - Suppandi.This is a superstar of Tinkle.One of the very shortest series to be available in every issue, Suppandi is a character that is about a rather stupid boy who usually does the reasoning in the wrong way and ends up creating a hilarious disaster.

This character, made it's first appearance in 1983, January issue.This was not originally created by the minds in Tinkle studio, but it was created due to a reader - narrative stories about a stupid boy ,sent by P.Varadarajan from Chennai.The artist who brought Suppandi to life is, Ram Waeerkar.He was drawing the character, till 2003 , after which it is now being taken care his daughter, Archana Amberkar.More than a fool, the readers would agree that he is just any other common man, but he is more a simpleton.Since the inception of the character, it has received nation wide accolades, initially, Tinkle recieved many posts from fans relating to Suppandi and the editors realised that this simpleton with the funny rectangular head is going to stay for very long.And yes, the character still is the top among Tinkle characters, the character is loved by children's, teenagers, and adults.

That brings us to the topic at hand- from 2D to 3D.The famous character, Suppandi is making a big leap to the film!.Yes the favourite character of all times is making his debut in the cinema.But not just any other film, but a 3D film!.Indian animation industry is yet to give a good film, that is accepted and loved by all but this film will change that I think.Also the 3D element, has not yet been experimented with, in Indian Film industry much.But some animation films, from international studios have already made their way into the 3D world.Hope Suppandi will show the world, we've our own comic characters that have captured minds nearly for three decades.The film is set for release in November 2010.

 

This romance and fantasy novel, written by Stephenie Meyer, revolves around Isabella Swan, who likes to be called Bella, a seventeen year old stubborn, klutzy girl who comes to live in the town of Forks, of which she has had an aversion since she was a kid. She comes from Phoenix, which is a dry, cheerful, sunny place, to Forks, which is one of the wettest places in the country of USA. The reason behind it is explained well and it makes us love Bella for her magnanimity. She misses everything about Phoenix and mainly her loving, erratic mother who travels with her new husband Phil. Her father is her only company here in Forks and he is Chief of Police. Her father tries to make her life less difficult in Forks. The bond between the father and his Forks-hating daughter is touching. Bella hates everything about Forks until she meets the inhumanly beautiful Cullen family, at school. Bella is awestruck by their beauty and unnerved when Edward Cullen, the most handsome boy, displays unexplained hostility towards her. She is intrigued by his continued absence, and when she finally gets over her discomfort about his absence, which, she somehow feels, that is due to her, he turns up and things start to get friendly between them. Bella encounters two near death experiences from which she is saved by Edward under impossible-to-save circumstances. Bella suspects that there is something more about the Cullens other than their looks. It is then that she gets friendly with Jacob Black, her family friend, whose family believes that they are descended from werewolves. They despise the Cullen family and claim that they are vampires. Bella refrains herself from believing it, but, it turns out that Jacob Black was actually right. The relationship between Bella and Edward grow stronger as Edward eventually tells Bella the truth about him and his family. Bella, instead of fearing them, is actually infatuated by them. Edward insists that his family of vegetarian type, that is, vampires who do not prey on human beings. Bella finds herself irrevocably in love with Edward and gets immeasurable love in return. As Bella gets accustomed to her great, new life, she unexpectedly meets a coven of human-preying vampires who are determined to kill her. Edward and his family do their utmost in trying to save her. At this point, the action starts and it keeps the readers enthralled till the end. The relationship, that Bella and Edward share, is highly exotic. The unexpected turn out of events and an exciting climax keep the readers entertained.
