Yet to watch?: For those who are going to watch this movie for the first time, I assure you that, this the movie that has changed the trend in Tamil Cinema.After this film, many films were released based on the same concept i.e against corruption and Black money.

Theme: "If you are involved in corruption, either you give bribe or accept it.......Indian will punish you"

About the movie:

Kamal did and extremely good job in this film by doing a dual role as father and son, which was necessary for the film and as a result this film got him the National Award.Especially the father's character is extremely superb and credit must goes to the Academy award winning Make up Artist Michael Westmore, and as a matter of fact Michael Westmore was also used by Kamal Hassan for his recent blockbuster film Dasavatharam.

The film starts in a different way, where the Government officers who are involved in corruption are being killed by an old man only with the help of a knife and also by using Varma Kalai.Krishnasamy is the police officer who was appointed by the Government and he is an intelligent officer who managed to proceed the case in the correct way and also manages to catch Senathipathy at one instant.

Apart from this,in the other track it was shown that Chandru, who is the son of Senathipathy, was working in the RTO office and he also gets license to those people who give him money and he is accompanied by Subbiah(i.e., Koundamany).This film also contains humor especially when Pannerselvam(Senthil), who is the officer in RTO, and Subbiah meets and non stop comedy is guaranteed.

But Subbiah and Chandru are separated and the reason is shown in the flashback.Where in the past Senathipathi's daughter,Kasturi,meets with a fire accident and when she was admitted in a hospital and for the treatment to take place the doctor(Nizhalgal Ravi) asks for bribe and when Senathipathi refuses he asks him to go the Police station and get an FIR.

The similar thing happens in the Police Station when the inspector asks for the bribe.After that, when Senathipathi returns to the hospital he finds that his daughter was dead and after hearing this news Chandru was totally dejected and he starts to hate his father as he believed that if Senathipathi would have bribed him, his sister's life would have been saved.

Then the film goes to the past during the British period when Senathipathi was young and he was an active extrmist.He usually kills all the British officers and naturally he have decides to joins the Indian National Army, which was established by Subash Chandra Bose in Singapore.

At this scene it was shown that Kamal was the commander under Nethaji's army and he introduce all the army men to Nethaji.Credit goes to ST Venky, who was the graphics designer for this film and he also won a National Award for best special effects.

Later he was captured by the British when he attempts for a suicide mission on one of the enemy's tanker.Later he was released after Independence and he returns to see his wife Amrithavalli(Suganya).At this point a superb song "Kapaleri Poyachu....", will raise the National spirit feeling within us.

Then coming to the present Senathipathi also finds that his own son Chandru was corrupted and he decides to kill him also.He also succeeds in his job when Chandru tries to escape in a flight.During this accident occurs and everybody felt that Senathipathi was also dead.But later he calls the police investigator Krishansamy and says that he was safe and also says that he will come back again and kill those people who are corrupted.This is a positive end for this film.

When the film was release everybody used to talk about the character Senathipathi, i.e., "INDIAN THATHA" (Indian Grandpa).Apart from Kamal and Venky, Thota Tharani also won the National Award, for bet Art direction.The music by A.R.Rahman was extremely good and all the songs were smash hit.

#)Bombay

Yet to watch?: Hi friends I guess most of you would have seen this best National Integration film of 1996.A very touching and a very sensitive film.Hats off to Maniratnam who has directed this film and also for handling such a sensitive subject.This film is about the violence that happens between the Hindus and Muslims in Mumbai.

Theme:"Don't separate the country in the name of cast or religion.... We are all equal.... We are all like Brothers and Sisters and ....and most importantly.... We are all Indian"

About the movie:

The film starts in a beautiful village in TamilNadu.Sekhar(Aravind Swamy) who was working as a Journalsit in Mumbai comes to the village to see his family.There he finds Shaila Bano(Manisha Koirala), a Muslim girl of the village and he falls in love with her.It was started as one side lover but later they both love each other.

Sekhar goes to Shaila Bano's house and asks permission from Shaila Bano's father for marrying his daughter.But he refuses and also hurts him.Nassar who was the Sekhar's father was very angry in hearing this and he scolds Sekhar and he doesn't want a Muslim girl as his daughter-in-law.

So Sekhar fights with his father and he leaves for Mumbai.After reaching Mumbai he also sends a letter and ticket to Shaila Bano and requested her to come to Mumbai, if she loves him.Shaila Bano was in a tough position to take any decision and finally he decides to go to Mumbai and marry Sekhar.

Then Sekhar receives Shaila Bano at the Mumbai Railway satation and after they get married in a register office.after few months Shaila Bano becomes pregnant and she also gives birth to twin children and they named their children as Kabir Narayan and Kamal Basheer and this is a perfect example to show the unity of Hindus and Muslims.

They preached them with both the religion and also taught them we are all Indians and should never fight in the name of God.This film is loosely based on the riots which occurred in Mumbai after the destruction of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.So in this film also riots between Hindus and Muslims according to this reason.

"But we should remember that all these riots are not due to the ordinary innocent people in both the religion... but these occurs only due to the religious extremists, who just provoke innocent people in the name of God... But all of them knew that all Indians, irrespective of religion, either Muslim or Hindu or Christian or Sikh or Jain, are brothers and sisters and it is only due to some bad people who are behind all these violences.So friends atleast from now we should not believe in those words....Whatever they speak in the name of God... we the People of powerful India, should always realise and keep in mind that we are all brothers and sisters....."

Coming back to the film, in this riots many people were killed and moreover both Kabir Narayan and Kamal Basheer were lost in this riots.Then the rest of the film goes in search of these kids and finally Sekhar finds both the child and he also gives an emotional speech that was really touching and this also made the people realise and after this all the people holds hand together irrespective of their religion... with the back ground music of "famous Bombay Theme".Really a fantastic emotional scene and moreover the music of A.R.Rahman speaks in this song and the music is such a melodious and inspirational that makes people cry and this music also also expresses the power of unity.

This was a turning point in the Indian Music era because this "Bombay Theme" sound track was used in many other foreign films and albums and some are mentioned below,

i)2002 - It was featured in a Palestinian film Divine Intervention

ii)We can also hear this music in Nicolas Cage action film "Lord of War" which was released in 2005.Ive watched this movie

and this music comes when the people of Africa remove all the aeroplane parts with Nicolos Cage was watchin the entire

activity sitting at a distance.

iii)1998 - It was also featured in Volume 5 of the chill-out compilation Cafe del Mar

iv)2000 - Apart from this, it was also featured on a French TV commercial for Volvic starring Zinedine Zidane

v)Ciara also used the one of the song i.e "Kehna Hi Kya"(In Tamil it was Kannala re...) in her new song 'Turntable'.

Yet to watch? : Best direction work and also the characters performance were amazing because the entire film takes in a single room.Guess how? The director has proved it...Excellent movie

Theme: Well, we can say this as a drama but it looks like investigation and so we are always excited when we watch this movie as we eagerly expect the next scene, even though the film takes place in a single room.In a simple word "Impossible is nothing" and this can be discussed both from the director's point of view and one of the character,Juror 8, because the director has made an impossible movie and even the Juror no:8 made an impossible effort to save the boy.This is adapted from a play by Reginald Rose

About the movie:

Friends we would have watched lots of movies irrespective of languages, but here is the movie which is completely different from those movie you have watched because the entire movie takes place in a single room. I assure you not even a single minute of the movie will make you feel bored as each second is worth watching and it is also very interesting.

Well no more suspense’s let me just start with the story of the movie...Well I must be lying if I say this has a specific story because it is just an investigation… to be specific a theoretical investigation which takes place in a room and those 12 jurors, who must give the unanimous decision about the death sentence of a young boy.

I guess if you are really interested in watching this movie I must not reveal the entire conversation that takes place between 12 jurors. But still I will discuss how the story movies without going deep into the conversation that takes place in the movie.

Well the film starts in a court where a young boy was convicted for a murder case and the judge appoints a 12 member jury and as a matter of fact these 12 people don’t know about each other. Their job is to discuss the case and just come with a unanimous decision and the judge will give the verdict according to that.

The director has done a splendid job as he would have shown the body languages and attitude of the 12 jurors and for example one wants to finish it quickly as he wants to watch his favorite match, with some other jurors sits as if he was not interested in the discussion.

Finally they decided to go for the voting and all has to write their decision in their paper and everybody felt that an unanimous decision will come in the first voting itself, but for everyone’s surprise one of the juror, seat no.8,voted against because he thinks that the witnesses was wrong and this boy wouldn’t have convicted the murder.

“Vote Results: Convicted to not convicted = 11:1”

So the discussion starts again and most of the juror was angry with this juror because they think that he was wasting everybody’s time. So the 8th juror asked for another voting after giving his explanation that the boy was innocent. He also said that if in this voting if another juror apart from votes for not convicted, then the discussion must continue. The

voting started and this time Juror 9 supported juror 8 as he was satisfied by the explanation given by the juror 8.

“Vote Results: Convicted to not convicted = 10:2”

But when the discussion goes further and when juror 7 and 10 started to complain, two votes came in support for juror 8 and this time it was voted by jurors 5 and 11.

“Vote Results: Convicted to not convicted = 8:4”

Juror 8 also explained about the sound of the train that was heard by the neighbors most of jurors believed him because the juror 8 discussed this part of the issue with approximate timings. So after some discussion many jurors started to vote in favor of Juror 8, i.e. juror 2, 6, 10, 12.

“Vote Results: Convicted to not convicted = 4:8”

Now with only 4 jurors left the discussion started to shift in favor of Juror 8.Juror 8 also explained that one of the eyewitness who said that the boy was the murderer must be wearing a glass as he finds black marks on the nose. So hearing this most of the jurors voted in favor of boy not convicted.

“Vote Results: Convicted to not convicted = 1:10”

But still Juror three was holding up his decision and everybody understood that he also will soon turn down and as expected he also voted in favor of the boy not convicted and it was also shown in the film he discusses about his son during the initial discussion.

“Vote Results: Convicted to not convicted = 0:11”

And an unanimous decision was taken by the jurors after many hours and the judge releases that young boy. At last the juror 8 and 9 leave the building and also exchange their names.

Yet to watch?: If you want to enjoy any movie... here is the tight movie.Full of comedy but still an amazing finish , which is very touching and moreover it is inspirational.This is about a Jamaican team competing against the American team in the Bobsled team event, during the 1988 Winter Olympic Games at Calgary,Canada.

Theme: "Nothing is impossible... if you work hard with strong determination then even sky is our limit"

Other info: This film is based on a true story Jamaica national Bobsled team's who participated in the 1988 Winter Olympics and this was their first appearance in Bobsled.

About the movie:

First of all you might be amused to know that how a Jamaican team would have participated in the Bobsled game as Jamaica is a country which usually doesn't contains any snow mountains.This itself would have made sure about the moral of the movie that nothing in this world is impossible.

Well, the film starts when the Jamaican 100 meter specialist Derice Bannock was going for his final race and if he wins or finishes in top 3 places or so,this race he could qualify for the Summer Olympics.But unfortunately, while he wa leading the race another runner called Junior Devil slips and he falls down which resulted in Derice Bannock to lose the race as he also fall down when he lost the control.Not only Derice Bannock, another racer called Yul Brenner who was also a strong competitor lose the race due to Junior Devil and Yul Brenner was very angry due to this.

So Derice Bannock was dejected and he also tries to explain the situation to the federation, but in vain.So while he was thinking what to do, he met his father's friends Irving 'Irv' Blitzer,an American, who won 2 gold medals in Bobsled event at 1968 and 1972 games but unfortunately he has to return the gold medals as the Olympic committee found that he cheated and won the race, and at present he lives in Jamaica and spends his time as a Bookie.

When approached by Derice Bannock, Irving 'Irv' Blitzer hesitates first and later agreed to coach him but he also said that a bobsled team requires 4 person.So they made an announcement and many youngster from Jamaica attended the presentation which was taken by Irving 'Irv' Blitzer to help them to know about the game.But after seeing the presentation many left the place as they felt it would be dangerous and may even cost their life.

But at last the four people who were ready to take part in the game includes Derice Bannock,Junior Devil,Yul Brenner and along with them Sanka Coffie, who was the friend of Derice Bannock, also took part and as a matter of fact Sanka Coffie was a pushcart driving champion and he is the best humorous character in this film.

The team was ready but they dont have snow to practice so what they did was they used the pushcart also in the hilly slopes of Jamaica and coach Irving also asked them to stay in freezer, so that it would help them to adapt the cold climate fo Calgary.Initially the team performed very badly during the practice session, but later the did well to start the race within the given time.

So everybody was ready and they also arrived in Calgary and during those days those small teams must first clear the qualifying session and they managed to qualify for the competition and they were also given accommodation in the Olympic village.Irving also borrowed a bobsled and during the qualification for the finals to everyone's surprise the team finished 8 and qualified for the finlas which will take part the next day.

Before participating in the competition the American team teased them and at present they were surprised to see a Jamaican team in the Olympic Bobsled team final.The next day the whole of Jamaica was waiting and expecting that their country will win gold.In Calgary many fans decides to support the Jamaican team.

As expected they started the race well an it looked as if they are going to break the reacord.But unfortunately a problem in their sled  collopses due to one of the blade and as a result of this they fell some distance short of the finish line.But they never give up and they carry their sled and finish the race.During this time, even the American team claps and all the audience encourage them for their great sporting spirit.Then it was shown that 4 years later in 1992, they were treated as equals.

Hi friends in this article let us see the story  of tamil movie Raman Thediya Seethai directed by KP.Jagannaath. Story line:

The movie is about Venugopal, a successful business leading contented life, but hasn’t found a perfect match. The moive starts with Venu along with his mother heading to Nagerkoil for his alliance of bride Ranjitha (Vimala Raman) and she is quite happy to marry him. But things suddenly change as Venu reveals about his past days of psychiatric treatment once he got in tougher situation in his school days.

On hearing his treatment Ranjitha refuses him to get married and then Cheran meets another girl Vidhya daughter of Manivannan. She agrees to marry him and marriage day is fixed. But for unknown reasons, she escapes from the marriage hall with her boyfriend.Due to consecutive failure in the process of marriage Venu gets vexed up in his life until he meets RJ Nedumaran who is blind, his lovable wife Tamilisai  and their cute girl kid Kayalvizhi. Nedumaran tries to bring up the hope lost by Venu and Tamilisai tells about their love story.On hearing their story Venu's hopes in life boost him upto a certain level.

In the mean time Manickavel assures Venu of getting a perfect match.They both travel to Nagerkoil to meet bride Karthika. But, Venu has lots of shocks and surprises in Nagerkoil where he first met Ranjitha before couple of years. He meets Vidhya who is in a pathetic situation of pregnant and her husband in prison. On seeing her condition, Venu takes her to the hospital where Ranjitha is working as receptionist. On his meeting with Gayathri, he is more fascinated by her active approach and believes that she would marry him. There comes another twist in the story, a entry of auto driver Gunashekaran reveals that both of them are in love.

Fed up with more and more disappointments, Venu gets a call from Nedumaran in Chennai saying that he has found a perfect match for him who resides in Nagerkoil who is none other than police officer Tamizharasi. Again with certain twists and turns in the storyline, situations force him to refuse the girl and the climax goes on who would be finally joining hands with Venugopal.

Raman Thediya Seethai is a good family based movie with attracts more family audience to see the movie.With the number of twists in the movie it makes it interesting.The music  by Vidyasagar has to be credited,  for this fabulous work in melody numbers in the movie.
