In 2001 the ten-part drama series to "Band of Brothers" on TV, this series about the second world war was very positively received by both critics and the general public. During the first 2 episodes we follow the Marines during the attack on Guadalcanal in the summer of 1942, this attack was the first major invasion of the Americans on Japanese territory and was characterized by large losses on both sides.
After Guadalcanal, we follow the marines to Cape Gloucester, where in December 1943 with the 1st Marine Division Australian allies came ashore at a military airport in Japanese hands krijgen.Vervolgens come Peliliu and finally to Iwo Jima in the battle for Okinawa to come at the end of the war. The battle for Okinawa lasted from March 1945 until June 1945.
