One of the best film in 2008 and it is best known for its excellent music and if you are a Tamil cinema fan you would have guessed it and the movie is Varanam Ayiram.Credit goes to Surya who took tremendous effort to act in this move, who also developed six pack for this movie.So in this article let us see about the technicians and artists who has worked in this movie.

Actually Gautam decided to use the name Naan Thaan and Udal Porul Aavi for this project but after that he decided to go with the title "Varanam Ayiram" which means 1000 elephants and this also symbolically means that the hero has the strength of thousand elephants to overcome the problems he faced in his life and start a new life.

But many felt that this film is a combination of Cheran's tow hit films Autograph and Thavamai Thavamirinthu, where the story Autograph is more or less like a person who was dejected after the love failure and Thavamai Thavamirinthu is about the Son's love fo his father.

Initially the project was set to create some history in Indian Film Industry, when they decided to shoot in Afghanistan for 10 and eventually it would have becomes the second Indian film after Kabul Express to be filmed in Afghanistan, but later due to some security reasons Gautam dropped this plan.

Another interesting thing that happened during the post production is that the production managers have lost the film reels while they were returning to India, and this reel was very important as it contained all the scenes and songs that were shot in USA.The production managers seemed to have to lost the reels in the Singapore airport.It has been estimated that these reels worth around 2.5 to 3 crores.But fortunately the Singapore Airport authorities found the reels and they handed over to the team.

Behind the screen

i)This film was directed by the famous Tamil director Gautham Vasudev Menon.This is the second time Gautam has directed Surya and their previous work was also a hit film, Kaka Kaka.As a matter of fact Kaka Kaka was a turning point for both of them.Gautam also mentioned that this film is very close to his heart because he considers the Krishnan character in this movie as his own father.

Initially he announced that shooting will take place in Afghanistan for 10 days, but due to security issues he called off this idea.Gautam also said that this film is more or less based on the story of the movie "Forrest Gump" and also said that he will change accoring to Tamil audience.

The secret for Gautam's success is his team.In all his film he considers Harris Jayaraj as the music director and naturally all his film becomes a musical treat.But reports says that after this film Gautam had a misunderstanding with Harris and as a result of this he chose A.R.Rahman for his next film "Vinnaithandi Varuvaya".

ii)This film was produced by Venu Ravichandran, also called as Aaskar Ravichandran and he also distributed the film in India.

iii)The music for this film is composed by Harris Jayaraj.All the songs were hit and they eventually ruled the Tamil cinema in the year 2008.

iv)This film was distributed all over the world by Cloud Nine Pictures  and by Bharat Creations in USA.

v)Officially this film was treleased on November 14, 2008 and it ran for more than 100 days in many theatre.

vi)R. Rathnavelu is the cinematographer of this film and those who have watched the film could gave understand the great work done by Rathnavelu.Especially in songs he has done a fabulous job.All the songs were great hit and credit also goes to Ratnavelu because without his work the picturization wouldn't have become so good.

vi)The budget of this film is around 14 crores and this was a blockbuster in 2008 and it managed to earn 28 crores and was second best in the year after Kamal's Dasavatharam.This film also gross around 6 crores in Chennai alone.

vii)Another important man who is responsible for the success of this movie is Anthony Gonsalvez, who is the editor of this movie and he also has done a good job, which marked the way for the success of this movie.

Artists and Cast

i)Surya as Krishnan.This was quite a challenging role for Surya, which he has never done before as a 70 year old man.He was a very good father and a lovely husband.He lives and dies for his family.He is aslo shown as a cute lover when he proposed to Malini.He usually smokes and it resulted in throat cancer.

The most important thing about this character is that he is very encouraging and he also encourages Surya to go to USA and bring back Meghna.Apart from this he also teaches the basics of bowling in cricket to Surya.

ii)Surya as Surya.He is a charming lover and he loves his family.He is very much close to his dad.He is patriotic, and a scene in this movie where he carries the operation to rescue the hostage from terrorist, inspite of hearing the his father death news on the midway of the operation.

He has a great role in this movie and worked out so hard for his role of he army officer and National Security Guard commando.He is also addicted to drugs when Meghna died.He is very courageous and he usually never give up and thats why he decides to go to USA in search of Meghna, thanks to the encouragement from his father.

iii)Simran as Malini Krishnan.This is a very good role for Simran and she is very lovely and kind to his husband and children Surya and Shriya.But one thing we can feel in this movie that make up work was not so natural at her old age when compared to Krishnan,i.e Surya at his older age looks very natural than that of Simran.

But when we speak of her character her performance was good and in the climax she gives hope to Surya, who lost his father, that Krishnan will always watch and bless thier family.Initially Tabu was chosen for this role but she rejected thi offer.

iv)Sameera Reddy as Meghna.This is her first Tamil film after many Telugu movies.After this film she was appreciated by all for her performance and also got many oppurtunities in Tamil films.She doesn't come throughout the movie as she appers only for a short while.The introduction scene for her takes place in the Train where she meets Surya.Then in USA she was killed in Okhlahama in a bomb blast while she was attending a seminar.

She was shown as brilliant student who tops the university in this film.Initially Genelia D'Souza  was chosen for this movie but due to some salary issues she rejected this offer.But prior to that Deepika Padukone  was all set to make her film debut in this character even before acting in Om Shanti Om.But she backed off due to the inactiveness of the film during that time

v)Divya as Priya.She is the daughter of Krishnan's friend Thomas.She is also the best friend of Surya's sister Shriya.But later in the film it was revealed that even from her young age she was in love with Surya.She later propose to Surya, but that time Surya rejects.But after some years she meets Surya at NSG commando base in Dehradun and that time Surya also expresses his love and after that they get married and have a son.

2008 was a very good year for Tamil cinema and three most important films that won many awards are Dasavatharam, Subramaniyapuram and of course Varanam Ayiram.Varanam Ayiram managed to win many awards and especially at the prestigiouis Vjiay awards,ITFA,Flimfare awards and the TamilNadu State awards.

Well. to start with Gautam is one of the modern director in the Tamil film Industry and he is more known for giving a musical treat films.When you look at all his films he gave importance to songs and moreover their team which consists of Lyricst Thamarai and Music Director Harris Jayaraj, gave great entertainment for the fans with the help of the songs.

His debut film "Minnale" was a blockbuster and especially the music was smash hit.This team with Harris resulted in many successful films for Gautam and after Varanam Ayirmam,Gautam chose A.R.Rahman for his next film and not Harris Jayaraj, due to the misunderstanding between them,When asked for the reason he simply replied "The decision not to work together was not mine.Hope everyone got that"

He was born as Gautam Vasudev Menon on 25th February 1975.Gautam started his Carrier as ad maker and he was also successful in that field.But later he decided to enter film industry and as a result he worked under Rajiv Menon and also took a cameo role in Rajiv Menon's super hit Minsara Kanavu.Gautam also worked as a assistant director in that film and gained experience.

Gautam is well known for directing Action thriller movies and especially after Minnale all his film are more or less based on action thriller and also police stories.The film Kaka Kaka was a smash hit and it showed the power of Police department and till date in Tamil cinema no one has tried in a different way as Gautam did in Kakka Kakka.

After the release of this film in Telugu as Gharshana, starring Venkatesh and Asin, rumours spread that this film was to be remade in Russian language and it will be a story about a Russian cop who is a specialist in encounter.But till date no such project has come.Some reports says that some scenes of this film are based on the famous English movie Se7en.

Gautam's entry in Bolywood was not successful when he remade Minnale in Hindi with the title Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein,starring Madhavand,Diya Mirz(Tamil:Reema Sen) and Saif Ali Khan(Tamil:Abbas).Evethough the tamil version did well in Hindi this was not a huge hit.

Then in 2006 Gautam started his new project and this time with "Ulaga Nayagan" Kamalhassan.This is also based on the story of a police officer.This was a Blockbuster in 2006 and in 2006 most of the ringtones in cell used the song "Manjal Veyil..", because as usual this team done the trick again with all songs were smash hit.

Kamal did a splendid job in this movie and this is action packed and a thrilling movie.This film ranked first in terms of gross revenue in 2006.But the entire team faced lots of problem due to the producer's suicide attempt.But however Seventh Channel took the job and completed the movie.

After the sucess of this movie, Gautam next chose SarathKumar for his next film "Patchaikili Muthucharam' which is a thriller.But the film doesn't do well at the box office as expected, eventhough Sarath and Jyotika's acting was critcally appreciated.

His next project Varanam Ayiram was very close to him as he considers that it was a tribute to his father.This film is based on the Son's love for his father.This was a great hit and also Surya's performance in this film was fabulous.But unfortunately after this film Gautam and Harris got separated due to some misunderstanding.

His next film is "Vinnaithandi Varuvaya" starring, Silambarasan and Trisha.2 times Oscar award winner A.R.Rahman composed the music for this film and this is a new team as this was the first film for A.R.Rahman under Gautam's direction.At presen the shooting is going for this movie and we can expect its release very soon.

v)Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu: For the first time he dances in this film.In the song "Manajal veyil..." he gives a special appearance when he dances along with some of American dancers, while Kamal and Jyotika walks in front of them.

vi)Pachaikili Muthucharam: He does a came role as a passenger in the bus, during the song"Kadhal Konjam...." when SarathKumar,Andreah and their son were travelling in a bus.

vii)Vaaranam Aayiram: He comes as a masked man who shows the correct place of the terrorist to Surya's team.

If you are very sensitive and emotional I guess this is not the right movie, because Ive read in a forum where lots of members in that forum expressed their views that they cried after watching the movie and this movie was in their mind for many days and more over many said that whenever they think of this movie they cried and it is really a touching movie.

So friends lets discuss the story about the Kurdish film called "TURTLES CAN FLY".From my point of view this movie doesn't made me cry rather it brought me into picture about the disastrous effect of war and that too the important theme of the movie is that, whoever may fight in a war, but the ultimate result due to the war is the suffering of innocent people and children.

I also understood that we are gifted in a sense and we are don't realise how peacefully we are living in this part of the world and it is only these people, who always ready to say "NEVER SAY NO TO PEACE" as they are waiting for every second for peace.Really when we think of the situation our heart breaks and moreover we are pushed into a situation that we are forced to do anything for these people.

Well, when we discuss about the film the film starts in a a different way where a young girl tries to commit suicide.And after this scene we are taked directly to a Kurdish village at the Iraq - Turkish border where cars just cross both the borders.

Then we see group of boys in that village just adjusting their antennas and they are guided by the people from their home so that they could adjust according to the correct direction and get the signal.Now we are going to meet a character called "Satellite" and I assure you friends he is such a wonderful character and you can't see a similar character like this in any of the movies you have watched.

His actual name is Soran but people call him as "Satellite" because he is the guy who usually install antennas in the nearby villages of the border.He also got the experience from his father and in this film they doesn't show any of their relatives and he acts like a leader for all the orphanage children who came there as refugee,and indeed he is a very kind and good leader and all the children loves him.

Usually the children there used to take the landmines and they will earn money by selling them.Satellite is the boss for allow them and he also advices him to take care while they take the land mines.He separate the jobs for them and allot different fields for different team.He also asks them to take the American Land mines.

Then it is also shown that the elder member of the village Esmaeel, who was fed up as he didn't get any image in the TV and he also says that Sadaam Hussein was responsible for all the discomforts,i.e no water, no electricity and no TV's.He blames Sadaam and leaves that place.

Then in the next scene, Satellite was approached by a young girl with a small boy on her back.

She also asked him for a 3 meter rope.So Satellite goes to Pashow, who was one of the assistant and close friend of Satellite, to get the three meter rope and Pashow( he has lost one of his leg) inform him that she was none other than a Halabcheh girl,Agrin, who came to that refugee came the previous day and she also came with a brother,Hengov, who was armless yet he can hit other and make them bleed with the help of his head.This girl Agrin was always very sad.

Then Satellite gets the rope and gives it to Agrin and from that moment he has a soft corner for Agrin.Then Satellite asked Esmaell why they haven't used the satellite dish in their village.So after that both Esmaeel and Satellie travels in a truck and they were going to the nearby city Arbil to get the satellite dish for the village so that they could hear news about the war and also about Sadaam Hussein.

On their way to the city the truck was stopped by an old man who was travelling to Arbil and he also said he was a Iranian Kurd and he was also a doctor.The old man also said that he was in search of an orphan and he thinks that he would be Arbil.

The reason why he is chasing that boy is that he can predict the future and with the help of him he could make money with him.Another important character in this movie is Shirkooh who is also the assistant of Satellite and he is very loyal to him and also cries often.He usually asks the meaning of the English words that Satellite use.

Then Satellite and Esmaeel reaches Arbil and they go to a shop to buy the satellie.The shopkeeper said that it would be very high of about 2000 - 2500 dinars.So Satellite gives away 15 radios he has and also some 500 dinars to buy the Satellite.They bought the Satellite and took it to their village.

Then he finds Pashow in the village who was working to get the mines.Actually on that day Satellite asked them to work in Karim's land(Karim character is not shown in the movie), but he was shocked to see all were working in another mine.When he investigated Pashow said that Hengov asked them to work there as it contained lot of mines.

Pashow was also surprised to know how Hengov could correctly locate the place.Pashow also said Satellite he had got more land mine and he has got three day's profit in a single day.Pashow also said that the armless boy uses his mouth to remove the land mines.

But Satellite asked him why all were not working on American mines, Pashow replied that Hengov said both American and Italian mines are same and Hengov also said that whoever oppose his statement were a lier.So Satellite gets angry and startsquarreling with Hengov, and Hengov hits Satellite with his had which resulted in Satellite's nose starts bleeding.Satellite says in an anger that he forgives Hengov only because of his sister Agrin.

Then next comes the very exciting and humorous part of the movie when Satellite fixes the dish in the Esmaeel house.Satellite also says the statement to the people of village that there is nothing to worry as he will take care of everything.Esmaeel also asks Satellite not to show prohibited TV channels.Satellite fixes the dish and by this time the entire village has gathered near Esmaeel village.

Again Satellite said no need to worry until he was there and asked them to go to their houses as he will inform the news through the Mosque's microphone so that all can ear the news.He also slaps Shirkooh on his head as Shirkooh was tuning and asked him to get the microphone from the Mosque.Shirkooh was vey innocent and we will definitely feel when he gets beating.But Shirkooh likes Satellite very much and considers him as the hero.

Then Satellite starts to tune the TV and some 5 eldersmost people and also the Governor was eagerly waiting for the news.While he was tuning, Esmaeel agains warn him not to show prohibited channels and the exact opposite happens and some channels which are prohibited also shown when he was tuning the channels.

Finally he gets CNN channel.Ive watched the news clearly and I also found in the scroll bar of the news channel mentioning Indian Pm "Atal Bihari Vajpayee" and the director made sure he did everything perfect because when the film was release Mr.Manmohan Singh was the PM.Really the job done perfect.

Then Satellite sees the news and Bush was giving a speech.He couldn't understand and when Esmaeel asks what he was speaking, Satellite said that he was just saying that it will rain the next day.Again he replies the same when he was asked the same question by Esmaeel.

That night in the came Hengov find the small boy which his sister carries every time was missing and meanwhile the child was standing near the fence at the border of Iraq and Turkey.At this time Pahow and Satellite found the child and they rescued him and took the child to Hengov.

Meanwhile the Satellite's cycle was taken by Esmaeel, because they want Esmaeel to come and translate the news.Salellite actually left the cycle near the border and he took the child to return to Hengov.At that time Esmaeel came and he beat Shirkooh and took the cycle.Shirkooh explains what happened to Satellite as he cried.Really great acting performance by Shirkooh and very innocent to watch.Hats off to Shirkooh.

After all the friends of Satellite goes to Esmaeel house and got the cycle.They also got the message of Esmaeel's apology.Even that time Esmaeel slapped Shirkooh and this time he slapped him twice saying that it was his ration tommorrow.After getting the bike Satellite inform all that next day they will work in the shell field.

The next day all begin to work in getting the empty shell from the trucks and arranging them on the field.At that time Pashow came and informed Satellite that Hengov said to evacuate all as something was going to happen.Immediately Satellite requested all to get down from that truck and when it was evacuated a blast occurs in that truck.

After some days Masks were supplied to all the people, to be used in case of any chemical attack.Satellite demonstrated how to use it and he also sends Shirkooh to give a mask to Agrin.He also said to inform her that he will get another mask for that small boy.

The next day Agrin separates the work to all the people and also bargains with the dealer regarding the rate of a single land mines.

At that time he finds Agrin was struggling to get water from ponds and so he helps her.Then on their way he also shows another pond and explains that it was in this pond three children get drowned and he also tried to rescue them but in vain and also said he found red fishes.He also promised that he will get the red fish one day.

After that in tent it was shown that Argin was very arrogant with the small boy.Till this time we all think that it was their brother, but later in the film they reveal that it was the child of Agrin.She never likes the child as she was raped by soldiers several years ago.He also asks his brother Hengov to leave the child and they can move from that place.

Meanwhile Hengov gets angry as he loves the child and he takes the child and leaves the place and he was accompanied by Satellite in a cycle and when he was travelling Hengov he dreams about the fall of Sadam Hussein.Then after sometimes Satellite return to the village and informs in a microphone that war will take place and all people are requested to move to the top of the hill.

Then American helicopters comes and they drop papers and in that papers it was mentioned they were their friends and they will make that place a paradise.

The next day Satellite decides to rent a couple of weapons.So he goes to the city and exchanges grenades for weapon.

Meanwhile Agrin takes her son (The small boys) and ties in a tree and the places surrounding the trees are full of land mines.

At the same time Satellite returns back and getting ready for any attacks.At that time he found that small boy was missing and he also locates the exact place.

He knew that the place was dangerous and moves closer to that boy very slowly and cautiously.But even though he was careful a small mistake make the land mine activates and he injures his leg.Even before Satellite enter this rescue operatinon, Shirkooh was pleading him not to go and the director also added good sense of humor as Shirkooh says other than Satellite why other can't go and also points at Pashow.Pashow was taken by surprise and said he was not interested to lose his another leg also.

After Satellite injures his leg he was taken back to village and he starts crying,Shirkooh who was very much fond of Satellite couldn't tolerate this and also started crying.After that Pashow informs that Hengov said that everything will over the next day.After this Satellite asks Pashow to go and ask Esmaeel to inform everyone that the war will come to an end nect day.

That night Pashow and Shikrroh comes to Satellite and informed him that they could see US army everywhere.Shirkooh also presents Satellite the Sadam's statue's arm which he took from the city and also a red fish to Satellite and said he got the red fish from the Americans.Shokrooh also informs that he was leaving the place with his uncle so that he could earn money in the city.

Meanwhile Hengov dreams that Agrin kills the child by tieing the child with the rock and pusing them into the pond tha Satellite earlier mentioned to her, which killed 3 children in past.At the same time the cover in which Shikrooh gave the red fish was dirty and Satellite understood the fish might have taken from the pond.

He understood that some child would have drowned in that pond and comes and dives into the pond to check about the child.Meanwhile Hengov also arrives and was crying and couldn't tolerate to know that the small boy was dead.Then he also goes to the top of the mountain and finds that his sister also commits suicide.Agrin suicide was the first scene of the film.

He was totally dejected and he also tells Pashow to inform Satellite that within 275 days another bad thing will happen to that village.The film finally ends when Pashow and Satellite watching the Americans Marching and at one point Satellite turns back and decides not to see it and he also leaves the place.

The reason why the director have kept this title was explained by the director of the film Baham Ghobadi as "In their long life, they(turtles) live partly on water and partly on land. This is symbolic for me of the joy and anguish and migration of the Kurds. The slow-moving turtle is like the Kurds: With all of our problems, we have managed to move forward, and we always end up upright"

Yet to watch?:For those who are going to watch this film for the first time, it is a humorous film and most importantly it gives a universal message "LOVE PEACE..Love others".We can watch this movie n number of times and most of my friends including me knew whats going to be the next dialogue.Its really an International Standard Movie.

About the movie:

This is a very pleasant movie and moreover the important aspect of the movie is timing comedy.The director has used humor has a precious tool to say the moral of the story.The film begins in Bhubaneshwar and the climate is worse, as cyclone  was approaching the city.Both Madhavan and Kamal were to board the Chennai flight.

Due to heavy rain all flights were cancelled and with the help of Kamal, Madhavan gets a 3 star hotel for accommodation.But Madhavan hates and never respects Kamal as he was a disabled man.Apart from this Madhavan was from a wealthy family, and he never finds the 3 star hotel comfortable. 

Then the next day they tried for the train, but unfortunately the same case happened here, as all the trains were cancelled.So with the help of madhavan's friends they decides to travel at the bus roof, which Madhavan has to accept as he lost all the money and has only credit cards.

The reason why Kamal came to Bhuvaneshwar was that, to get the compensation money of about 32 lakhs.Then the bus stops at a place and from that they have to catch a train to reach Chennai.But the station master said the train will stop only for 4 minutes.The way in which the station master says was very humorous and brilliant.

When asked by Madhavan he replied "2 to 2 to 2:2".... I guess you can understand when we write but in that movie it was confusing and later Kamal clariies it.The station master said the train will stop from 1:58 to 2:02( 2 minutes to 2:00 clock to 2:02).Kamal also reveals he was getting married in 2 days time.

Mean while Kamal says his flashback, where he was in love with a Bussiness Magnet's daughter,Kiran and finally when they decide to get married without Nassar's(Kiran's Father) permission, Kamal met with an and that has made him disabled.After recovery when he goes to see her,Nassar says that she was already married and settled abroad.So Kamal was dejected and he leaves that place.

Then the film comes to the present where Kamal and Madhavan starts a quarrel when they were speaking about Communism.As a result of this, Kamal was left behind in the railway station and Madhavan travels alone without Kamal.Meanwhile on the way the train stops and Madhavan also lost his luggage to a co passenger(Yugi), whom he felt was a very good man.

The reason why the train was stopped is that there was an accident on the track the previous day when a train on that track derailed and many people were dead and many more were injured due to this accident.Madhavan was suprised to meet Kamal there and Kamal said he has lot of friends and he came to that place by an ambulance.

A small boy who was injured in that train accident was in need of AB -ve blood and Kamal knew that Madhavan also has the same blood group and he informs the doctor.At first Madhavan hesitates as he was afraid, but later when he sees the boy he gives blood and saves the boy's life temporarily, and the doctor felt that he needs to be taken to Chennai for higher treatment.

So Madhavan and Kamal also travel in that Ambulance and later on their way to Chennai, the small boy dies and this really hurts Madhavan.It was at this time Kamal tries to explain what is life and how the life should be...He also says the power of forgiving others will not result in revenge and naturally a war free world can be expected.

Then they reach Chennai and Kamal was shocked to see that Madhavan was going to marry his ex-lover, Kiran.He also understood that Nasser lied to Kiran that Kamal was dead and so she accpeted to marry Madhavan.Nasser who has noticed the presence of Kamal asks him to leave that place.But Kamal wants to use this chance and he also made arrangement, that the workers in Nasser's company will get increment in salary.

Later Nasser sends Santhana Bharathi to kill Kamal, but when the former hesitates to kill him,and so Kamal praised him that he was also a God as he has forgiven him.Then the story ends when Kamal and his pet dog (Sangu) walks in the flooded street of Chennai.

Yet to watch?: Friends please don't miss this movie, as this is a very touching movie and moreover this is a story of a young SriLankan child who was adopted by a family in India and later when she finds that her mother was in Sri Lanka, she along with her present family decides to go to Sri Lanka in search of the girl's mother.

Theme: Well, this has an International feeling,i.e A mission to find one's mother and it indirectlyexplais the effect of the war and its aftermath.

About the movie:

This movie starts in Sri Lanka where a Sri lankan Tamil couple gets married.But after some years many Tamil people decides to leave for India as a refugee.

After 9 years it was shown that Madhavan and Simran had 3 children, a daughter Amudha and she has two younger brothers.She lives a ver happy life till her 9th birthday, when Madhavan and Simran decides to say the truth that she was adopted from a refugee camp from Rameswaram.

Really this is a very heart touching scene to say a child that she was not their own child.Amudha was shocked to hear this and pleaded them that it must be a lie.She also scolds them for revealing the secret and also says  that it would have been better not revealing the secret to her.

Amudha was dejected and after knowing the truth she tries on her own to go to Rameswaram and find the whereabouts of her real mother.After realising that Amudha was missing, Madhavan understood that she might have gone to Rameswaram and was able to find her.

But Madhavan clearly undersood the feelings of Amudha and he promised her that they will go to Sri Lanka in search of Amudha's mother.So as per his promise Madhavan, Simran and Amudha reaches Sri Lanka and there they were invited by the Sri Lankan Tamil Sangam, because apart from being an Engineer Madhavan is also a writer.

There he also meets Prakash Raj who is a Sinhalese Doctor and also a friend of Madhavan.He is the one who will guide Madhavan's family in Sri lanka.There Prakashraj informs that Amudha's mother was there in a village and also guides them with the bus  route.

But unfortunately before they reach the village the war has started between LTTE and Sri Lankan Army  and all the people of that village have already evacuated.But still they could meet the women but unfortunately she was not Amudha's mother because there were two village in different places under the same name.

The rest of the story revolves around, how Amudha finds her mother.At one instant when Madhavan and Prakash Raj were walking in a forest, they were kidnapped by the LTTE.But they realised that Madhavan was a Tamil writer  and decides to let him free but not Prakash Raj as he was a Sinhalese, but Madhavan tries and informs them that he was the person who helped them.

When Madhavan said about the reason why they came to Sri Lanka and also said Amudha's mother name, the LTTE group leader was surprised to hear that it was none other than her sister.He also asks them to come the next day at a specific location.When Madhavan comes with his daughter and wife, unfortunately fighting starts in that place as the Srlankan Army got the information that LTEE will come to that place.

So Simran get injured in this accident and they left the place.Amudaha realises that Simran was very kind to her after she saw the suffering of Simran when she got injured.So she decides not to hurt anyone hereafter and said that they can leave for India.

The next day when they were going to the airport, Simran asked to stop the car at the same place where fighting took place the previous day.Now she could see Nandita Das and this was a very emotional scene when Amudha met her mother and asks her some questions.Finally Nandita Das felt that her daughter was safe in India than in their place and left that place.This was a very touching moment.Finally Amudha joins with her adopted mother Simran and the film ends.

Credit must go to A.R.Rahman who did a marvelous job in this film.The music he composed in this film are very very cute and also makes us feel the pain.Amazing work and thats why he got a National Award.Don't miss this movie.
