Viruses: the different types

No comments on “Viruses: the different types”

In order to properly protect against viruses, it's helpful to know what they do and how they look. It is known that they want to spread, infect files, ... They provide load.

Viruses: the different types

* Species in a row with short explanation

* Macro Virus

* Virus Software

* Boot Sector Virus

* Trojan horse

* Viruses in general

Species in a row with short explanation

Very dangerous:

* Trojans pose as a good program, but can be damaging.

* Stealth viruses hide the damage, until they are removed, the issue is.

* Boot sector viruses are on a boot disk, when booting with the floppy, the virus is active.

* Software, software viruses infect course, if the program is opened, the virus does that.

* Hybrid viruses use several techniques to attack your computer.

Dangerous:

* Macro viruses infect eg Word and Excel files by scrambling the letters.

* Tunneling viruses use a technique to have to attack the anti-virus program notes.

* Eg sparse infectors are active only Friday the thirteenth, so the attention of the virus to escape.

* Encrypt viruses can encode and decode hiding to infect.

* Retroviruses infect the anti-virus software so it can not boot or the virus itself can not recognize.

* Polymorphic viruses constantly change their shapes to resemble an ordinary file.

Just load:

* Virus hoaxes are false reports and is usually found in chain letters.

* Worms can spread very fast, it constantly tries to copy.

Macro Virus

This virus infects Microsoft Office documents and can easily spread to other documents. Some viruses spread through Outlook Express, the popular e-mail program from Microsoft, without the user being aware of it. In another e-mail programs like Eudora, Netscape Messenger, Mozilla Tunderbird ... viruses can not spread. A macro virus is written in Visual Basic, the scripting language for macros of Microsoft Office. Normal macros are not viruses, but it is possible to make it harmful.

Virus Software

This virus will front a nesting program. If we then start the program, the virus is active first. It then has time to infect other programs. They are very dangerous because the virus is not directly over the program and scan the damage already inflicted before he is discovered. You should be very careful with freeware, some programmers deliberately infect their software.

Boot Sector Virus

Boot sector viruses install themselves on boot disks. If the computer is booted with the floppy, which normally takes the computer and "give the orders" to correctly start. If the boot floppy is infected, the virus-free game. It copies itself to the boot sector of the hard disk. The boot sector of hard disk allow the computer startup and contains information on what should be loaded, the file structure ...

If the virus still has free play, changing the BIOS. Thus, in that only the hard disk may be initiated: you can not boot disk. The virus will only be launched by the operating system and so could not help it. Fortunately there are now virtually no floppies, let alone boot disks, using the virus making it rare. Why opstartcd-ROM is no risk? These should only danger as writable CD-ROM and you would use it in a CD-RW drive. Because the CD-ROM must nevertheless somehow become infected.

Trojan horse

Trojan Horses or Trojans are very dangerous programs: they look like innocent programs, screen savers or updates but if you install them, do what they want. They can modify or delete the file structure and ports * opened. Most Trojan horses do first: they damage files and software, but they did not copy (this is exceptional). There are also backdoor Trojans. They do no damage but are able to open doors *. Then someone manage your computer completely

* What are ports? A computer is connected to other devices through ports. Eg. the Internet, the device is a server. If you surf you are a customer who goes shopping: a client and a server. Usually servers may be viewed by clients.

Data recovery, how does it work?

No comments on “Data recovery, how does it work?”

Data recovery is the reconstruction of data that is on a crashed hard drive. There are software programs on the market that you can try to retrieve data from a disk, called software recovery programs. For this it is necessary that the mechanical hard disk still functioneerd. Has a real hard drive crash and it runs no more than you are at the mercy of hard disk recovery companies.

How does one actually drive?

The hard disk of a computer consists of a round or more hard disks, this disk is a very thin layer can be applied which magnetized, these discs are in a sealed enclosure. Each disk is divided into smaller parts being the sectors. On either side of the disk is a read / write head which is very fast about the rapidly spinning hard drive can move data and sector can make or read the disk. The disk rotates more than 10,000 revolutions per minute, the read / write head is located only a few microns of the disk, the head drive will not touch the high speed does an air layer, the head of the disk, as at a hoovercraft. At the closing of a hard disk drive will stop spinning, now it will air layer between the head and drive away to avoid the head on the disk folds this into so-called landing ring put, this is an unused ring hard drive.

How can a mechanical hard drive will crash?

It is not hard to imagine, if you know the disks with more than 10,000 rpm spin above and below the disk read / write head to a few microns away, then you can imagine what happens when during a working with the computer plug in once from it, or leave your laptop on the floor, then the thunder heads on the disk and wipe off all the magnetic data or even damage the drive. This is a mechanical crash, this is basically worse than a software crash, those with special software can still be overcome. In a crash, mechanical repair much more expensive and difficult.

Create a software hard drive crash, and now?

In principle, all entered data on a hard disk, if they do not actually overwritten. There is software available which can find those dates. In this way, lost photos or data files never lost even when an image file is not completely dispose of the hard disk. By then the right data recovery software you can use these files always terughalen.Voorbeeld such a program is Filescavenger.

Mechanical hard disk crash, and now?

Can you hear the hard drive was humming with activated computer, you get a report of unreadable disk? then you are worse off. Then you hard disk over to Hard disk recovery service companies called Biggest disadvantage is the price, think of an average price of around 900, - a hard drive. This data recovery companies have in fact very expensive techniques to data from a hard drive to get, first they must have a special dust-free area where they cover the hard drive to open, then they'll sector after sector of the damaged disc manually try to clone, so as to another hard disk to reproduce the data. With today's hard drives of large terra bites you can imagine that this is a very intensive job is hence the price.

Can you avoid a crash?

No, actually not all that long time hard around turns and in one way or another mechanical nich works will once fail, you can still prevent your data recovery need, make regular backups of your important files, this can often with software on your computer, some antivirus programs offer this option already, or create a clone of your hard disk to an external hard drive and set it aside. Treat your PC and drive carefully and check the proper functioning of the operating system offered by the utilities.

Increase the Processing Speed of Your PC

No comments on “Increase the Processing Speed of Your PC”
Regarding slow speed of your PC, there can be two reasons, either your software are conflicting or your hardware is facing some trouble. These troubles, especially those related to software, can be solved in very easy steps. Many options are available to boost it up. Lets look at them one by one: 1. A very helpful characteristic of the new versions of Windows is the System Restore menu. User can create a new restore point whenever he wants and many of them are made automatically by the system itself whenever it feels some change in configuration. Though it is a very good option, it can capture a lot of space in your hard drive if left on. By default, it uses 12% space but eventually, it slows down your PC by many specific restore points like virus checking, disk fragmenting, etc. So try to limit the space you specify it. And periodically delete the unnecessary ones. It will significantly increase the speed. 2. Indexing Services is a program that processes indexes and updates lists of files on your computer. This is done so that when you search for something, it can search faster by scanning the index lists. So, if you don't search your computer often, turn it off would better performance. Simply go to 'Start' button on taskbar, click on 'Control Panel' and select 'Add/Remove Programs'. Find the tab 'Add/Remove Window Components' and uncheck 'Indexing Services'. Click Next. Open 'My Computer', click on 'Tools', select 'Folder Options', click on the 'View' tab to uncheck the 'Automatically search for network folders and printers' box.Click 'Apply' and then reboot your computer for changes to apply 3. Hard drive performance plummets as you near the drive's maximum capacity. So compress or remove the data that you don’t need quite often. 4. Windows XP (and Windows Vista) computers have features like smooth animated menus and transparent windows. These use processor resources, too, which means they can cause slowdown. Right-click the 'My Computer' icon and click 'Properties'. Click the 'Advanced' tab and under 'Performance', click 'Settings'. Choose to switch off some of these effects and see the improvement in your PC's performance 5. Check the programs that load during system startup. If you have many programs listed in there, naturally all the programs would work very slow. So remove the programs that you don’t want in the system startup. 6. Periodically defragment the hard disk. It insures smooth functioning of the Operating System. 7. Don’t let dust and dirt accumulate in your CPU’s case. It overheat the system and so slows down your PC. 8. Regarding hardware related problems, you can try increasing your RAM so as to increase processing speed.

ORGANIZATION OF A DIGITAL COMPUTER

No comments on “ORGANIZATION OF A DIGITAL COMPUTER”
A digital computer system has the following main parts as 1>  Input Devices 2>  Central Processing Unit ( CPU ) 3>  Memory Unit 4>  Output Devices   1>>   INPUT DEVICES :   We enter programs and data into the computer system through input devices . There are two types of input devices . ~~>> Direct Human - Computer interaction :   A keyboard is directly connected to the computer system and allows the data to entered directly into the computer . ~~>>  Indirect Interactions :   These input devices required the data / programs to be recorded on an input medium before it enters into the computer , such as floppies , magnetic tapes etc. ~~>> Other Input devices :   Punched cards , floppy disks , visual display unit ( VDU ) , Magnetic lnk Characters Reader ( MICR ) , Optical Character Recognition (OCR) , Keyboard , mouse , Light Pen , Magnetic Tape etc .   2>>   Contral Processing Unit ( CPU )  It is the heart of computer system . It has two main sections :  ! >>  Arithmetic And Logic Unit ( ALU )  !! >>  Control Unit ( CU ) !>>   Airthmetic And Logic Unit ( ALU ) :   All the calculations and decision are performed in the ALU . Initially The Data / programs are fed into the main memory through the input devices . Whenever the ALU needs these , the data is transferred to it . No calculation areperform in the main memory .The intermediate results generated in the ALU are sent to the working storage area of the main memory , where they are kept temporarily . The data can move many times between the main memory and the ALU before the final results are obtained .   Once the calculations are over , the final result are sent to the output storage section of the main memory . From here the results are sent to the printers or the other output devices .  !!>>  Control Unit or Control Sections ( CU ) :   This unit work like the Centrol Nervous System for all parts of a computer system . The entire operations of a computer system is controlled by the CU  . This unit given diraection and orders to all parts of a computer system so that they can work properly in a systemtic way . This unit also look into the execution of instructions . The CU selects , interpret program instructions and look into the execution of these instructions .   3>> Memory Unit :   The function of stroage unit is to store information i.e. it provides spce for storing data and instructions , space for intermediate results and space for the final results .   To sum up , the storage unit perform following functions : ~~>>  It stores the data and the program ( set of instruction ) ~~>>  It holds the intermediate results of processing. ~~>>  It stores the final result of processing before they are passed onto the output unit .  Basically we can divide the memory unit into two parts . ~~>>  primary memory ~~>>  secondary memory     4>> Output devices : These devices take the output results from the CPU in the binary coded from and convert them into easily readable from . Generally , printers and the monitors are used to show output results . Other output devices : ~~>> Printers : Line printer , Dot matrix printer , Letter Quality Printer , ( or Daisy Wheel Printer ) , Drum Printer , Chain Printer , Laser Printers etc. ~~>>  Plotters : Drum Plotter , Flat Bed plotter . Floppy , Magnetic tape , Punched Cards , Visual Display Unit etc .
