Andhra Pradesh judge clears 260 cases in one day, sets a record

The record set by Mangalagiri judge JVV Satyanarayana Murthy on August 17 this year, by disposing of 111 cases in a day seems to be an inspiration. Yesuratnam, a junior civil judge in Venkatagiri division disposed of 260 cases on Friday. The judge said the cases were pending since 2002.

However, Justice Hosbet Suresh, retired judge of the Bombay HC said, “Such records are meaningless if the cases haven’t been effectively dealt with. Number of disposals cannot be a criteria for the quality of a judge.”

Retired Justice V G Palshikar, also of the Bombay HC said, “It is impossible for a judge to decide even 100 cases if they are different. So if the concerned judge has done that, then he/she has definitely acted wrongly and it is a mockery of justice. But, if the cases are petty then disposing of so many cases in a day is something that is ought to happen.”

It's incredible! Before I comment on his feat I have to look at the quality of these judgements.Quantity and quality have an adversarial relationship!!!
Is it a record...

Hope no innocent citizen is punished...... :(

That's why it's important to know the reactions of the litigants involved.
