Both the countries have enough nuclear heads to destroy this planet many times over.It is another instance of good sense dawning upon the leaderships of these countries.
Still,both have enough to end this world.ALL countries unite themselves to lessen nuclear arsenal.There should be ZERO tolerance about nuclear arsenal. :)
I don't really think these countries have genuine interest in this matter.Maybe it is a part of some diplomatic strategy, something to do with Iran's nuclear projects!.
Its good deal to the world not only for US and Russia.In the same way, in the next 20 years,These two countries brining down the usable nuclear weapons to zero,they will pressurized all the countries in the world to stop manufacturing of nuclear weapons and by making sign on Non-proliferation treaty.It leads to peace for the world.Currently,many trying to get these weapons.Once in a country like Pakistan/any other country,if these weapons are going in the hands of terrorists, we can't assume the mass destruction happened to the people in the world.It is good step in the right direction by the leadership of two countries with shrewdness.
It is very good to know your views on this sensitive issue and this planet has amassed enough materials to destroy itself.Now it is time for all the governments to put their acts together to restore some sanity in this regard.We cannot simply afford to have another nuclear holocaust.
There is no cold war presently between U.S.A. and Russia. Today Russia is not so much of military challenge to U.S.A. as it used to be. Hence, they feel that it is no use holding on to nuclear weapons. However, this is good step. The real peace will come when there will be total elimination of deadly weapons by all countries.
