Based on correlating multiple data sources RAINN (rape, abuse and Incest National Network ) estimates that for every 1,000 rapes, 384 are reported to police , 57 result in an arrest , 11 are referred for prosecution, 7 result in a felony conviction, and 6 result in incarceration.

The NCRB data is usually released after two years, annually . Under the Narendra Modi government the data was inordinately delayed and some aspects are still missing. However, the data on violence against women throws up shocking figures for 2018.

Rape is the fourth most common crime against women in India, hence rape is reported every 15 minutes here. India has been ranked as the '5th most dangerous country in the world' for expats. What's the use of knowing all this , when deep down we all know that : RAPES WON'T STOP IN INDIA .

Every now and then , a new heartbreaking rape case comes up . News spread , public outrage, rallies , delayed court hearings and as always government fails to provide justice. No strict actions , no strict laws , no severe punishment. All we get to see is public demanding justice and till the time it fades , another dreadful rape case comes up.

Recently , in Delhi a 21 year old Civil Defense Worker was abducted , brutally raped and murdered. The family alleged that Sabiya was abducted from her workplace on the evening of 26th August  and taken to Faridabad ,where she was raped and stabbed to death . The woman's body was found with stabs on her mouth, her body was mutilated and her breasts cut off.

Sabiya was just four months old working in Delhi Police Defense. On the evening of August 27, Sabiya didn't return to her home . The family members searched everywhere and went to the police station , but couldn't find her.

The dead body was found in a horrific condition , so much of cruelty and so many stabs. She was gang raped by 4 people, 50 places were badly stabbed, breasts were cut off.

In India , religion plays an important role in social events, sadly Sabiya was a muslim girl and no voices were raised, no breaking news were telecasted for her. This is an unfortunate reality of India. Another girl died , another family suffering having no hope for justice.
