The  selectors opine despite the rawness of his talent, the NBA believes him ready for the big leagues..

I am sorry to hear that, people train in India and serve in other countries for their personal benefit. He was part of Indian team from 2011 to 2013. He should have played for India in place of joining NBA. And this is no history we should feel proud of, it's a case of a talented player joined a foreign club for money.

It's simply a case of utilising the opportunities. Had he stayed in India he would have remained as another amateur Basketball player.

So that is a clear case of opportunism, what is there to feel proud about that. Hundreds of thousands players and professionals from India every year do the same in different fields.

In this case It's record for an Indian to be drafted into The prestigious NBA, the most prestigious and top Basket ball Sports body.. Till now no Indian played in NBA. I see this as a smart way of utilizing the opportunity. I didn't see anything wrong in it.

I would have preferred to stay in India and play for National Team, that was a far greater achievement for any Indian.

Agreed. Provided you have the standard of playing for your country. But Satnam Singh did not have the Basket Ball skills beyond School level. If such a person gets an opportunity for playing in NBA, is it wise to kick off this opportunity?

Anyhow this is a matter of Personal preferences.

You missed the point sir, He was part of Indian Team in FIBA in 2011 and 2013

And let me clear it Sim Bhullar aka Gurusimaran Singh was the first Indian to have played for NBA (he was not born in India though).

Thank you for updating the info. Anyhow I quoted the contents of the thread as given in the link/ The link says "Satnam Singh made India proud."

This is a great achievement and  i think all Indians should be proud of it. To expect this man to stay in India and earn pennies is not a proper suggestion. Human nature means to excel and money is a factor. I would also be guilty of it.

Exactly. What we do is we neither grow or allow others to grow.
