we definitely need to reduce our petrol consumption and curtail all expenses that need import. But is shutting petrol pump a solution while ever increasing vehicles on road. The best solution would be to economize transport and encourage pedal cycles.

The government is considering various proposals including shutting petrol pumps, I suggest they shut the auto industry to finish the problem right from it begins. It will help the cause perfectly.

If Veerappa Moily wants to reduce the consumption of petrol. let him surrender his government vehicle first and see that all the vehicles used for Government services except a few vehicles like ambulances etc should be stopped. Ministers are rich enough to buy their own vehicles. Once the ministers start using their own vehicles they will be careful in spending on petrol. Because that's their own money. Not the government's. Extravagance is more in the government circles.

Honestly speaking, I don't think shutting down petrol pumps will in any way serve the purpose. People can get the fuel in day time and use it as they want. I guess, there should be a limit in using the fuel itself and allow the pumps to operate during day time as well. A bulk of the transportation takes during night time through big trucks.

Shutting of petrol pumps is good for debate and argument but it will not be suitable for a democratic country.Hence,there is a need for new fuel.And people should be encouraged to avail public transport.

That's right - it will be a great topic for discussion. But how far that is practical, is indeed an issue. I just read a news now that Mr. Moily was only thinking about this - shutting pumps at night and that isn't an order from the ministry still. So, we have to wait.

BJP as a responsible opposition should come with concrete proposals to improve our economy rather than making fun or cutting jokes. They are also MPs and get salary. Are they paid only for disruption and making destructive criticism only?
