P.M. has rightly warned Italy of consequences of not sending back the accused in case of murder of Fishermen. We hope PO.M. will be as strict in action as he is in words. There is no reason why we should tolerate Italian deception.

The question is why were they let off in the first place? this always happens when an Italian is involved in India, earlier it was qutrocchi and now this, is there any connection ?

I am neither surprised nor am I shocked! If you have been studying the political landscape of Italy in recent years, its affairs are worse than any banana African republic. The political powers have been hijacked by a group of people of questionable credentials and why our apex court failed to factor in this aspect utterly beats me. We have been conned! About our government, what do I say? Cry my countrymen, cry!!!!

Italy is a sovereign country and it appears that there is nothing wrong so much with Indian government and judiciary relying on affidavit of Italian ambassador. The dead line for return of the accused marines is not yet over. Possibly Government may succeed in diplomatic efforts to get back the accused. If the Italian government and their ambassador fail in their commitment, India has some options to deal strictly in accordance with international law.
There is possibility of Italian Government and ambassador having misled the Indian government and court. By submitting his affidavit before supreme Court the Italian ambassador voluntarily surrendered his diplomatic immunity which he cannot now claim.

Fresh development has taken place. Apex Court has ruled that Italian ambassador cannot leave India.

In normal circumstances, such leniency is okay but when it involves wrongful killing of Indian citizens, should there have been such lenient terms and hospitable treatment for the accused?? If Italians have tried to mislead Indian governments, were our officials sleeping? Wasn't it their duty to keep their eyes open?
If you remember some years ago, a couple of French citizens were caught in the act of spying and they too managed to get away never to return. Isn't national security at stake and in spite of that incident, shouldn't the officials have been more vigilant now?
There can never be any excuses to what has already happened and I doubt if detaining their ambassador will serve any purpose!

The ambassador gave undertaking on which basis the apex court allowed parole to the Italian marines. The apex court has considered it proper to not allow the ambassador to leave the country. We cannot raise any issue over this decision.
Meanwhile Italian government has decided to take the issue to international forum for arbitration.
