After KSRTC buses, government offices and commercial establishments, it’s journalists who are emerging as soft targets – easy prey of politicians, police and others.

Over the years the state has been witnessing frequent attacks on journalists, the latest being the one in the capital of Kerala on Thursday.

Considering that journalists have been bearing the brunt of attacks from almost all political parties, it is hard to believe whether these parties are genuine when they raise concerns over the ‘freedom of the press’.

It goes without saying that investigative journalism is risky. The vested interests- politicians, mafia, industrialists or anyone- affected by disclosure of his misdeeds will retaliate.

Political parties believe in freedom of press only to the safe extent.

But as told in report the press freedom is not a so distant dream in Kerala.Kerala allows good freedom for press people.

Freedom should be given to press people,so that they can express thier views clearly and boldly.
its a risky process in kerala
This trend is not confined to Kerala alone and the media have been unruffling too many feathers these days!
I think this report is based on a recent attack on a pressman in which police is also in trouble.
