The helicopter shot-six that Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit to put it past Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup final is his own. But the bat he used to achieve the feat, before twirling it in his hands, isn’t his anymore.

The Indian skipper auctioned his prized possession for a cool Rs 72 lakh at London’s Hilton Park Lane hotel on Monday night. The money is meant for Dhoni’s charity which is headed and named after his wife Sakshi. The Sakshi Foundation caters to the underprivileged children in India, and although it was started last year, Monday night’s event was the first major initiative by the foundation. The bat was acquired by a little-known firm — RK Global Investments. The company is based in Singapore and is headed by a businessman Raj Kumar who is said to own and manage multibillion-dollar properties worldwide.
