The World Cup inaugural match between India and Bangladesh at Mirpur registered a peak rating of 12.48 across six metros in the country, more than 10 percent higher than the IPL 3 opener according to available data.

According to data issued by TAM -- a media research agency -- the opening match delivered an average cumulative rating of 7.8 across ESPN, STAR Sports, STAR Cricket and Doordarshan channels.
