Yes. as long as he lived Vincent Van Gogh did not get even a morsel of food. It's only after his death He became famous. That is the Irony.
Von Gogh was not mentally stable and was of poor physical health , apparently looked after by his brother who worked for an arts museum, so it was not as if it was difficult for him to get a morsel of food.

I meant, he could not get that reputation, which, he deserved .while he was alive. It was only after his death, the world recognized his greatness.
