This is very good information. so far, I consider Abraham Lincoln as the first to abolish slavery. It is pleasant to know that Ashoka did so long ago. He advocated gender equality. But why did he not remove Sati system or did this not exist in his regime?

History has to say this. Or it may be that Sati was not as rampant as it was in the later years. Anyhow, this is purely my opinion.
