    Tamil is easy to understand but a little difficult to talk, and very difficult to learn writing

    Tamil is difficult for North Indians to learn. But the Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada speaking individuals from areas adjoining Tamilnadu state may learn Tamil easily

    I will say its not so difficult to speak in Tamil but to write in Tamil is very difficult.

    One may learn to speak many languages but there is more difficulty with script. That is why I favor Roman Script for all languages.

    The thread is whether it is easy to learn Tamil. This is not about the language being classical or ancient.
