In India it has become a well-established trend and fashionable for the leading lights to encourage their sons and daughters to take up the same the profession in which they have excelled.But in most cases it has been found to be more than a disadvantage.There are exceptions too like Jeev Milkha Singh who is the son of the 'Flying Sikh' Milkha Singh and has made it at the international level as very good golfer.Do share your thoughts.

I don't know this regarding sports. But in films this generally happens. Many successes and many failures happened.

They choose because they know the ups and downs in that carrier.

Yes Rakesh,we have great Bachhan as an instance.Although I am not sure what role Big B played in persuading his son to take up a film career.
Not only in Bachan family. I know many stars in Tollywood and Bollywood.

I think such a practice creates a lot of pressure on their sons and daughters as they have to come out of the shadows of their parents and their formidable reputation.
Chinmoy- Not only the celebrities but people from all walks of life attempt to bring their children to their own profession. Caste system also partly explains this. Traditionally, people have adopted their caste based family trade from generation to generation. Moreover, usually parent is ideal for a child. So, the child may feel more comfortable with parental job.

@Gulshan you are right, most of such cases do arise from their traditional professions. Also the fact that the parents being in that profession, they find it much easier and feasible to teach and groom the children for that profession or job right from their childhood.

I have raised this issue mainly because such a practice is based on the most fallacious assumption that his or her son or daughters would be as good as they. One of my friends whose father was a renowned chartered accountant put his son to this course and he turned out to be a failure in it and finally frustration consumed him completely.What do you say on that?
@chinmoy

Many things happened like this. It is happened with me too. My father is not interested in my decisions. I forcefully joined electronics branch in engineering. But i am not interested. Now my engineering degree is completed. Then i want to do job. But my father is interested in doing masters. There is a lot of war happened with my father and me in this topic. Why so many fathers like that ???

@Rakesh

This is the precise point I was trying to make.These things are so common these days.It is normally the decision of the parents which spoil so many promising careers.
Celebrities establish and set some new kingdom in their field.....

So they would definitely do not tend to loose the grip and fame in their field... So they tend to bring up their wards to the same field, where the new come has no need to work from the scratch!!!!

Thanks 'n' Regards,
Deepti.
