Joint family is declining because of a number of reason

First is job and then is personal preference to nuclear families.

joint family is useful, specially in case of baby care and to satisfy emotional needs. But today`s generation, i thk like to be more independant and don`t like the ideas of their parents or in-laws.
I think when any person got good job and education then they tried to do separate family with wife.

I think separation is not bad if they support his joint family by money or other things.

I came from a Joint family. It has advantages and disadvantages too...
Business families who stay at one single place for ever long prefers joint families.
Now-a-days due to the change in the job types, as Software jobs, small families are preferred by all....

Thanks 'n' Regards,
Deepti.
Joint family develops the unity between the members by sharing all happy and sad moods of life. Also if envy people is there it will create problems.

I think the main reason for the decline in joint families is ego problems and generation gap between elders and young people. Either both people should adjust or one of them should completely surrender to the other. Then only joint family system survive.

It is difficult for a husband and wife to adjust among themselves these days because of so many reasons. But it is always good to see a big joint family living happily with so many men, women and kids.

Joint family system has been affected by factory system and other economic developments. Previously, all would carry out traditional job- cottage industry, agriculture or perform service in native village or towns. As the cottage Industry gave way to large factories, people moved from villages to large citi4es to work in factories. Thus the joint family is affected. The notion of joint family is not yest dead. although people live in nuclear family, they have in mind larger joint family and periodically meet at social functions. Thus, joint family system has loosened but not totally finished.

yes, Joint Family system is vanishing from cities.well, In villages it is still prevail.
it is total mindset of the people towards joint family system.

:( :( :(
Santosh- Most of us owe our origin to villages. The very act of going to city weakens the joint family. The villagers go to various cities in search of job. Thus the joint family at village is physically separated. But still many remain emotionally attached to the joint family and communication as well as social and family ties remain intact. The caste system also is a factor that strengthens joint family system.

In village most probably when family become big then they try to divide family with property division.
