In general an Indian soldier is an epitome of self less services. It's due the these Brave hearts we are able to enjoy peaceful sleep. Hats off to them. Lal Bahadur Shastri aptly said "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. ".

There are many ex sportsmen working as officers in different forces of India. I personally know a SP of CISF (from sports quota) who was one of the main commandos during Akshardham terror attack and was also decorated later. Sportsmen are generally fearless and never hesitate handling such matters. I can understand how these three have discharged their duties as expected of them.

Soldiers or Sportsmen work for a common cause, "To keep alive the dignity and honor of the country."
