A novel initiative but may not work in India owing to poor public transport. Also, the pitiable condition of the road makes it a nightmare for us to walk down most of the roads. First things first, in our country roads have to paved better and public transport system has to be geared up.

Unless, one makes a start, we cannot say if it works or not. The Govt. should take the initiative and see if it works or not.

The roads are not properly taken care off...only potholes are filled with pitch which washes off during rainy season..we don't need a band aid, but a permanent solution for the roads. Am sure most of will prefer walking if we have good lanes to walk.

Anything in the beginning looks daunting and impossible. There are many places in the country that have beautiful roads. If that's possible in one place, why not in the other places?. For example here in Vizag there are many good roads without potholes.

I think that in India, there should be some incentive for using bicycle or traveling on foot. .

Here in AP morning walkers were given a separate lane . For an hour, the vehicular traffic is not permitted. That's the incentive. Walkers can walk a carefree walk, without the fear of getting hit by a speeding vehicle.
