Despite several articles, television shows, demonstrations and what have you, plastic is the worst menace of mankind.

In India, perhaps there is lip sympathy, but nothing else.  How can we allow this rotten thing to happen?

Plastics have entered everywhere.  They take 5000 years to naturally decompose, are the worst enemies of any form of rain water harvesting, and are simply killing our cows who eat them by mistake.

Should not we do away with plastic altogether, ban it in total, and go for alternatives?

Are we realizing the time bomb in our hands?

Unless manufacture of the undesired material is stopped completely, nothing can be acheived.

Banning will not help, until the manufacturers stop manufacturing it. In several places customers are charged extra to use plastic bags, but if it were not available then we would be bound to carry our own cloth bag.

People are using paper bags now-a-days. Manufacturer should stop the production of plastic bags or the price for the plastic bags should not be given as free one and it should be charged with the price of Rs.500. Then automatically the production will be stopped. It is an inevitable evil.

Plastic pollutes everything, including the land and oceans. Mass awareness is on the media but we are not so serious about the terrific disaster, except in our words. Strict banning, irrespective of the micron levels, and our own resolutions to exclude plastic from our daily life are the immediate needs that will save us as well as our future generation.

The use of plastics cannot be stopped and banning is not the solution. As uusla sciencewill find a solution and biodegradable polymers are on the way. So dangers of plastics will go down.

If plastic is found as enormous one then govt should use it for putting roads. Today road condition is worst. They are not constructing with good quality of materials. Waste plastic can be reused in this way so that at least our roads will get a new look. Most of the persons buying the mineral water bottle while they are travelling and take the bottle to their home and reusing it. In that bottle it is clearly mentioned that "Please crush the bottle after use". I want to share one information about the pet bottles that is if your turn the bottle downside there you can find a triangle symbol mentioned with a number. If you find the number between 1 to 4 that cannot be reused. If it mentioned the number 5 and above you can reuse that bottle. Awareness should come from our side first then only we can able to teach others.

Yes, sir.  The use of plastic that is found so much on roads, for roads has already been tried out with tremendous success.

Some four years ago, the collector of Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu did his best to stop the menace by convincing the people to go for paper covers and use of paper everywhere.  He communicated the evil effects of plastic and every citizen obeyed.

Of course, now we do not know if it is still in force.  The only solution is to find out some viable alternative and totally ban plastics.  Only then our future generation will be safe.  Regarding numbers on plastic bottles, I have seen even shopkeepers educating the public.  However, plastic is plastic.  The same bottles find their way to the roadsides, and it is just nightmarish.  I really wonder if any recycling is going on.  This does not seem to happen at all.

yes. We do realize, once in an year. When we observe a week on dangers of plastic week.
