It appears that there is adverse male female ratio and also too much segreagation of genders. There may be also unhealthy mind set. May be there are more psychopathic cases than we could imagine.

Causes for rape are aplenty. There is no specific reason which leads to the ghastly act of Rape.

Causes of rape is not female, it is curved mindset of few males and society needs to identify them and seclude them from others.

rape cases are increasing day by day. rapists are leaving no one small kids, old women everyone is on their target.
The one and only reason is the attitude of such men and their basic lack of any kind of ethics...Only religious fundamentalists and fanatics and some general public too who have no sense of fairplay try to put the blame on women and their way of dressing rather than blame men who have no control over themselves !
Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The main cause of the rising no.of rapists is lack of punishment and trails that take too long..until then the rapist is left free to commit more such crimes.

Yes there is a belief in such men that they can get away with anything even a very serious crime like rape. Sometimes I am amazed at the callousness of the law and order system of our country...........people have lost their faith and we cannot blame them.

It's not only Rape cases. In all crimes, the criminal takes the things for granted making mockery of our Loose laws.

We need to realise that Rape does not come naturally to all men but it is only those with distorted views of women and sex resort to it. This may be partly psychological and partly because of the company they keep and also their surroundings and upbringing. When people start giving reasons as to why men commit rape it seems ridiculous because such men commit rape even when you are covered from head to toe...We need to look at other solutions for rape like stringent punishment which may or may not help and bringing in a change of attitude which will be a long process that requires the co operation of the entire population !

@Usha Manohar: So very true and a very valid point...dressing alone doesn't entitle anybody to become a rape victim , there are several other reasons behind such a crime.
