Thanks for providing the link. This will really help new users of IRCTC website to book railway tickets. I usually travel in sleeper coaches for long travels. But I wish to try other coaches of train also.

I used to travel with my parents also as my father was in transferable govt. job. I traveled in First Class, second class, third class and Inter class. Now there is no third and inter class. I was told that the First class soon after independence was just 'second class' during British period and the 'First Class' usually used by British was very excellent. There was only First class A.C. whereas now we have A.C. two tier, three tier and chair car as well.

Indian railways have a long history of various classes of accommodation. Now Third class is eliminated. Once Gandhi ji was asked why he always traveled by third class to which he wittingly replied that because there is no fourth class. Now First class is also mostly eliminated.
