    My state is Tamilnadu. Initially it was called Madras Presidency (Chennai). While C.N.Annadurai was the Chief Minister, He changed its name to Tamilnadu.

    Correct. The link is about states in U.S.A. But we may also see how states in India got their names. Indian states got their names either by geographical location e.g. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh or by distinct culture, language or ethnic group.

    Before the world war 2nd. there were many colonies These were near it and have free organisations, but During war American leaders by force met these colonies in it.In this way America is called the united state America now a days and it became powerful.

    America has seen many ups and downs and even now going through recession ...But , no matter what it always will remain a powerful nation , a world leader. The 50 odd states were formed much later.When they got I dependence from Britain in 1776 there were only 13 states..

    Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!
