What is the history behind this mosque?

I think that writing an article on the Dargah would be better. This is Salim chisti's Dargah. Many including dignitaries visit this dargah for blessings. I believe this is superstitious.

I have never been to Ajmer but I certainly would like to visit at least once there as I have heard your wishes are fulfilled if you pray there. :)
It is a holy place.People from far off countries come to dargah to offer vows.
