After a long time Andhra Pradesh (AP) has got some relaxed allocations in the Railway budget of 2010-11. Let's see the important things in it.
1. Secunderabad has got a Railway wagon Manufacturing Unit and a Sport's academy.
2. Vijayawada has got new Train lines and extensions and also a doubling line Vijayawada-Gudivada-Machilipatnam is also sanctioned.
3. The famous Pilgrim center Tirupati has benefitted a lot from the Railway budget as of whole where 3 intercity trains connecting Madurai, Bengauluru and Secunderabad. The lines of Nandyala –Erraguntla, Jagtiyal-Nizamabad, Ghadwal- Raichur and Vishnupuram-Johnpahad are assured of being completed by 2011.

2) New train between Chennai and Coimbatore - ‘Duronto’.The Chennai – Coimbatore Duronto Express will be a day time point to point service between the two cities which will be cheaper and faster compared to Rajdhani Express, according to the Minister.
3) Other new Trains in the budget for TN includes,
i) Nagercoil- Bangalore Express via Madurai and Hosur
ii) Tiruchirapalli – Mangalore (Weekly) Express
iii) Coimbatore – Tirupati Intercity (Tri-weekly) Express via Salem
iv) Madurai - Tirupati ( Bi-weekly) Express
v) Howrah – Katpadi (Vellore) – Puducherry (Weekly) Express
vi) Haldia – Chennai (Weekly) Express
vii) Chennai - New Jalpaiguri (Weekly) Express
viii) Tiruchendur -Tirunelveli Passenger
ix) Mayiladuthurai – Thanjavur Passenger
x) Coimbatore – Pollachi Passenger (after gauge conversion) and main line EMU services between Coimbatore and Erode
xi) Tirupati and Chennai via Nellore and between Salem and Katpadi.
4) "Bharat Tirth" a tourist train will connect tourist cities like Madurai,, Rameswaram, Kanyakumari with Mantralayam, Varanasi, Mysore, Goa.
5) Minister also promied new lines for the following , before the next financial year.
i) Nagapattinam to Velankanni
ii) Portion between Salem and Namakkal of Salem – Karur project iii)Nagore to Karaikal
iv) auge conversion of Tirunelveli – Tenkasi
v)Mayiladuthurai – Tiruvarur
vi) Dindigul –Palani sections.
6) The Ministry decided to take up the preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey for dedicated freight corridors for North -South ( Delhi- Tamil Nadu) and South-South (Tamil Nadu – Goa).
7) Multi-functional complexes will be set up in Erode, Nagercoil, Salem, Tiruchi Fort, and Tiruttani stations. The Ministry decided to enhance passenger comforts and other facilities in Tiruvarur station.
8) To meet the increasing demand of passenger coaches, Integral Coach Factory, Perambur, will be modernised and a second unit will be set up to equip itself for manufacturing technologically upgraded coaches from its present level of about 1500 coaches. A sports academy will be set up in Chennai along with Delhi, Secunderabad, Kokatta and Mumbai to strengthen sports infrastructure.

Karnataka is the first State in the country to come forward to take up railway projects on cost sharing basis. The Government plans to spend Rs.2,529.80 crore in the next five years for such projects. This year alone, we plan to spend Rs.600 crore towards cost sharing projects.
Sanctioning of five new routes namely Talaguppa-Honnavara, Shimoga-Harihara, Whitefield-Kolar, Tumkur-Davanagere, Hospet-Hubli-Londa (Double Line) during this years is a welcome step.
The Government had requested for 19 new trains during this year, out of which only the 10 following new trains have been sanctioned.
The decision to hold simultaneous examinations including the local languages in recruitment and extending free journey facility to the Cancer Patients and introduction of separate trains for women, making available e-ticketing facilities in the Grama Panchayaths etc. are steps in the right direction. The Railway Board has approved the proposal of setting up locomotive manufacturing units at Madhepura and Marhora (Chhapra). These projects were announced by former railway minister Lalu Prasad.
9 out of 54 new trains announced by Mamata Banerjee to start from or touch Bihar.

* 49 diagnostics centres and OPDs, mostly in central and south Bihar, for railway employees.
* Track doubling on Kiul-Gaya rail section
* Priority completion of Neora-Sheikhpura-Daniawan new rail line.
* Fatuha-Islampur and Bakhtiarpur-Rajgir rail sections to be electrified.
* Inclusion of Gaya and Patna Sahib in the ‘Bharat Tirth’ tourist train routes into the state. The trains are:
o Howrah-Gaya-Agra- Mathura- Vrindavan -New Delhi-Haridwar- Varanasi-Howrah
o Madurai-Chennai-Jaipur-Delhi-Mathura -Vrindavan -Allahabad-Varanasi-Gaya-Chennai-Madurai
o Madurai-Varanasi-Gaya-Patna Sahib-Allahabad-Haridwar-Chandigarh- Kurukshetra-Amritsar-Delhi-Madurai

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in her budget speech today announced several Gujarat related new trains and also some technical initiatives.
One Gujarat related passenger train declared
Bhildi(Banaskatha district)-Samadari(in Rajasthan near Jodhpur) passenger train has been proposed in the budget but with a footnote that it would be operational after gauge conversion.
Among new long-distance services proposed in connection with Gujarat are:
Ahmedabad-Agra express Tri-weekly
Puri-Valsad express(weekly) via Katni-Bhopal-Vadodara
The Railway Budget proposed the setting up of
Out Patient Departments (OPD) and diagnostic centres at Bahadurgarh, Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jind, Kalka, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rohtak and Sonipat.
In addition, secondary-level general speciality hospitals have been proposed at Ambala Cantt, Jind, Kurukshetra and Sonipat.
Also, tertiary-level multi-specialty hospital will be established at Rewari and the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana would be extended to all licensed porters, vendors and hawkers, who are from the unorganised sector and are socially challenged.
