    I think Delhi and not New Delhi is celebrating 100 years. Delhi is much older. Delhi has seen many ups and downs- freedom struggle at various stages. Change of British capital from Calcutta to Delhi was an important. After partition, the Punjabi refugees from West Pakistan changed the economy, culture and style of Delhi. Now Delhi is mini Punjab. Being national capital, Delhi has assumed metropolitan character with citizens from all parts of country.

    The problem of this city is also daunting. I have seen how buildings have come up near and around some historical sites! Unplanned expansion,abnormal congestion!

    Friends I was eagerly waiting for this news. Thanks Sasikanth for posting this link. Today, Delhi is celebrating 100 years of being capital of India. In the year 1911, capital of India was shifted from Kolkata to Delhi by the Britishers.
