The character of Tarzan for the first time appeared in the novel Tarzan of the Apes, in the year 1912. The credit for creating the character of Tarzan goes to Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan then made his appearance in the next twenty-three sequels of this novel.The story goes that Tarzan, the son of British Lord and Lady, becomes orphan, when his parents die, while Tarzan is still an infant. Tharzan is raised by the apes and Kala, is the name of Tarzan's ape mother.

The real name of Tarzan is John Clayton. Tarzan meets Jane and after Jane goes back to America, Tarzan leaves his jungle, and goes in search of Jane. Tarzan and Jane meet and they get married. Jane and Tarzan live in England for some time and Jane gives birth to a son, named Jack. Tarzan found it difficult to adjust himself with the country life and therefore returned to Africa with Jane.

The famous romance of Tarzan and Jane is immortal in people's hearts. Several films have been made on Tarzan and Jane and these films have received great accolades from people.
