It is not an easy task to select the best actor. Amitabh Bachan is considered the best by many. This is because the current period only is remembered and past is forgotten. Secondly, I am not aware of non Hindi films. There are many actors that may be considered excellent- Raj Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Pran, Raj Kapoor, Bal Raj Sahani. I consider- Raj Kapoor as the best hero. He may be considered best actor of the century. Pran- the best villain, Bal Raj Sahani- the best character artist, Johny WEalker- the best comedian.

It is ,indeed, a very difficult task to pick the best of the century and opinions would always be divided. Apart from some of the great names in Hindi films, there have been actors whose achievements and brilliance are no less at the regional level. For instance, late Uttam Kumar who was also known as 'Mahanayak' in Bengali cinema still commands a huge viewership even 30 years after his untimely demise. Soumitra Chatterjee who won national awards a number times was Satayajit Ray's number one hero. Thus I am not in favour of picking up any one as the best of the century.

chinmoymukherjee - It is indeed a difficult task to swelect beat actor of the century. I had given some name in an earlier post. On second thoughts, I think ashok Kumar alias Dada Muni deserves consideration as best actor. He acted in bengali and Hindi both films. He was a powerful actor.

Yes Gulshan, there could be many, none of us has remembered late Mehmood who was a very versatile actor.As a comedian he had very few peers. He even directed a few successful films and in his debut film he gave the break to R.D.Burman as Music Director!

According to me, it is mainly Kamal Hasan and NTR as they have lived in their roles and were also involved into many aspects of films. .. As far as only pure acting is concerned, however, My favourite is Anil Kapoor..
