A manipur woman is on fast for last eleven years agsist repression by armed forces. Her fast is for ending the special powers of armed forces. Prime Minister had promised to repeal the atrocious law a few years back but this is empty promise.

she also holds that anna movement is artificial.

Anna movement is okay. But when will the movement of manipuri woman fasting for eleven years succeed.

The Manipuri woman is none other than Irom Sharmila and she has been fighting hard with the government to repeal the Armed Forces Special Act which gives them the right to execute innocent people on mere suspicion. This act has also lead to capturing raping of several Manipuri women and killing of innocent people.

Whatever be the case, it can not be called that Anna movement is artificial. In the recent years corruption has been rampant with absolutely no check. Whatever may be the outcome of Anna movement, at least it has managed to wake up the people to stop and think about it and got the government on its toes!

People are silent about the Manipur Woman's attempt to change law. She is also fighting against corruption. 11 years is a long time gap. On the other hand, Annaji's Lok Pal Bill may remain worthless if such laws are made in future.

The issue is that our government does not bother about far off places like Manipur. For them Delhi is most important. If Anna had agitated in Maharashtra or somewhere far from Delhi, nobody would even notice him. I remember that many manipur women had marched in procession totally nude for protest against atrocities including rape by armed forces. No action taken so far.

Very true Gulshan! The glaring fact is that not just Manipur but all the North Eastern states have been completely ignored by the government right from the beginning! A very unfortunate fact that is just feeding fuel to China's endeavors to encroach inside India from those states. For them Delhi is really very important and yet they cannot even keep Delhi safe for women, so how can they keep Manipuri women safe from the very people who are supposed to protect them! This is a worse worse case of total apathy against our own people.

Her fight is for very human existence. She is fighting for ending forces authority to kill anyone on mere suspicion.

I also agree that anna movement is artificial. Those in anna movement are themselves corrupt and so their fight is definitely artificial. In fact, sharmila is not listened to as she is far away from Delhi and not collected crowd in Ram Lila ground.
