This question is asked in almost every interview and we need to keep certain things in our mind about the same. You can start answering this question in brief by telling about your personal and educational background and then you can move on and say about your previous job and about your achievements about the same. Then you can add your future goals or carrier aspiration and what can you do to achieve those and finally end the conversation with a pleasing note on yourself. Always remember not to elaborate things as this will make the interviewers bored and try to be brief and to the point...

All the relevant matters about you would be already in the resume. The interviewer may like to ask some specific questions about your interests and experience. Just honestly reply what is asked. There is no need to deliberately say something not asked.

The important thing in an interview is to say the truth with utmost confidence which will give a good impression.

First tell your name
Then if you are employee, then tell about your last company then about your qualification.
If you are student then tell about your recent study first.
then your hobbies , strengths and weaknesses

An interview is basically to judge your skills especially communication skills.
In an interview its best to mention your name ,a little of who your family members are, qualification and chronologically your experience you've gained.Mention your strengths and weaknesses.Avoid using negative words to describe yourself. You can mention hobbies as well.
Its best to mention your expectations in the second round of interviews only when asked.
Also please be prepared for a justification of your expectations.
All the best.

It is better to strat with your educational and job details if any. And when stating about hobbies and interests just dont blindly say something as the interviewer may ask in detail about the field in which your hobbies are. For Ex: if you said I Like Painting then he/she may ask you what type of painiting, what is you favorite art and famous artist etc eetc. you should be prepared to answer that too.

No need to start talking first. What ever be asked to you, should answer those only.
