Netaji was a national hero who commands respect in different parts of the world and a man of action. I don't think we need a holiday to show our respect to him!
I am only questioning the merit of having national holidays on important dates when we should be working more to pay our respects to these great leaders!
Observing a holiday on a national hero's birthday is not showing respect to him and in Netaji's case, the great man's name itself is enough. The respect that he has in the heart of Indians is profound and it can never be questioned.
Whether it is a national holiday or any other day Netaji will remain in our hearts for forever and we are proud of the fact that a great leader like Netaji born in our country, India....
I remember having read somewhere that Netaji always dreaded the prospect of reamaining idle being struck by any illness. He even asked his friends that if any such situation ever came they should be taking him to a mountain and throwing him off. This only shows his attitude towards work and life!
We celebrate birthday of Mahatma Gandhi who is titled Father of nation and led the freedom movement. There were three distinct forces that fought for freedom. Netaji organized soldiers captured by axis powers and formed INA to fight British. The revolutionary movement participated by Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Batkeshwar Dutta and others was another stream. We should observe national holiday on birthday of Netaji and Bhagat Singh.
I don't know why some members are taking Nehru's name and even suggesting Netaji's birthday to be observed as 'a gandhi jayanti'!! Spamming is on in full swing! Where is the moderator!!!
I think that the member suggesting holiday as gandhi jayant means that Netaji jayanti should be holiday just as we have holiday for Gandhi. Nrtaji Jayant can never be Gandhi Jayanti. One menber has inadvertantly posted about Nehru completel ignoring that the thread is about Netaji. Such careless attitude in writin posts cannot be appreciated and such post needs be deleted. If this were in 'daily dose', I could delete. Maverick or Atul P Barapatre alone can delete the irrelevant post.
I can get his suggestion but my dislike for it was the most casual manner in which it was written! Some members even did not bother themselves with what the post was about!
