Adultery law needed to uphold sanctity of marriage, says HC. Do you agree?

Obviously it is necessary to preserve dignity and order in marital life!
There can be no two opinion on preserving dignity of family life. Adultery is definitely undesirable. But the law is biased. This needs to be amended for making it gender free. The terms 'another man', 'wife' in the law should be replaced by 'spouse' and 'person'. There should be same treatment for a man and woman committing adultery. Presently, a husband can complain against another man for aduklterous relation with his wife. But a woman cannot complain against another woman who has illicit relattion with her husband. This disparity needs be removed. This disparity is there because law regards woman as 'property' that another man may not 'use'.

Any kind of illicit relationship wrecks a normal married life and whoever is guilty irrespective of gender should be punished!

Very apt comment. Punishment for adultery should be irrespective of gender. But present law punishes only a man on complaint of woman's husband. A woman cannot complain. Also a woman cannot be punished for adultery.
