India is the third worst place to be in for mothers among '77 less developed countries', said a report released by an NGO Saturday.

Really the statistics is more on health care than mother care. We are among less developed countries. The poor and backward people and the backward regions have little or no care. This includes mothers, fathers, children all. As regards caring for mother, India has best family traditions and old parents find more affection and care than their western counterparts. This is unrelated to material comforts as they are more developed and richer.

Maybe this is a NGO based report and hence the result...Even I could not believe the fact that how could India rank so low when it comes about caring moms...

We are definitely not low in parental care. The reports are based on physical comforts. A rich person may not care about mother but will still provide her with air conditioner and a personal car. He will be considered more caring. A poor cannot afford so much. Hence he will be considered less caring. This thinking has distorted the report.

To my mind it is no revelation at all and as far ranking goes I'm not sure how bad we are on this count. But one bitter truth has got to be acknowledged that our rural mothers are made to live lives which to put it very mildly - are nightmarish!
I think our rural mothers had to work for their living and has no time to care children. That may be the result of this.
