India and china are two great neighbors with large population, large area, old civilization and similar economic problems. Both are showing excellent economiic progress.

But these differ in some respects. China depends more on external market whereas India has also good domestic demand. There are many other differences. See the link:

There are a lot of differences between India and China and in fact China has a much developed infrastructure than India. There are no beggar problems and slums problems in China and the last beggars were shot and thrown into the river decades ago in China but India though in problems doesn't do such inhuman crimes...
There are no slums problems in China as nobody can settle in a city unless he has got an employment there. Possibly, the big cities appear slum free and beggar free but the position in villages may not be satisfactory. Nobody is allowed to freely move in the interiors there and get first hand information.

I think China is using its manpower effectively than India does.

The total poulation of China is more but land is also more. It is the per KM population or density that matters more. Density of population appears more in India. We have greater need to control our population. Chinese experience may be of interest to us.
