Well i think both success and failure are connected..as in technology and science we have successed where as terrorism and calamities are some failures... :(
well though we certainly have succeeded in several areas, still the failures certainly gave dent to our image as in 2g scam, commonwealth, ipl to say the least.

My answer to your question is: Mixed, there are successes and failures also. In some areas India rocks and some other areas much improvement couldn't be achieved.
