Ayurvedic Home Remedies for Obesity

1. As soon as you wake up in the morning workout for at least 30min to an hour.
2. Make a mixture of two teaspoon of lime juice, one teaspoon of honey, in a glass of water, add some pepper to it & have it regularly.
3. Chew a thin slice of fresh ginger root a few minutes before meals. Or grate a little ginger, mix with some lemon juice and salt, and eat a pinch or two.
4. Spices like ginger, cinnamon, black pepper etc. are good for loosing weight.
5. Drink ginger tea 2-3 times a day.
6. Increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables and low calorie foods.
7. Eat tomato in the morning and in salad. Make it a regular habit.
8. Shudh Guggulu is very beneficial for curing this ailment. It helps to regulate the lipid metabolism. Take a teaspoon of guggul with ginger and honey, twice a day.
9. Two teaspoon of lime juice added to water also helps in loosing weight. Have it frequently.
10. Triphala, a herbal combination of amalaki, bibbitaki, and haritaki is good for loosing weight.
11. Raw or cooked cabbage inhibits the conversion of sugar and other carbohydrates into fat.
12. Include a source of vitamin B-12 in your diet
13. Eat three regular meals a day. Don’t skip any meal.
14. Use Ayurvedic herbs such as gotu kola, amalaki, and shilajit in powder or capsule form.

Avoid:

1. Avoid rice and potato, which contain a lot of carbohydrates. Among cereals wheat is good.
2. Avoid oily food and sweets.
3. Avoid high calorie foods like chocolates, ice cream, sweets, butter, heavy refined foods which have high calories

Guggul, also known as gugul, guggulu, gugal, guggul or shudhha guggula, is a herbal medicine that specially controls the weight gain and cholesterol level. Health experts, especially Ayurvedic scholars have specified guggul as the most powerful cholesterol reducing herb known till date. Guggul is a gum resin, which is produced from the stem of the plant called Commiphora mukul or Commiphora wiighti. Its english name is Indian Bedellium. Guggulu has been prescribed to lower the levels of elevated cholesterol in the bloodstream while maintaining the healthy ratio between LDL & HDL.
In ayurvedic texts, it is mentioned as “vataghna.” Helps in obesity, promotes union of fractures, aphrodisiac, nodular swellings, anorectal disorders, wounds etc.
