The Delhi Government has decided that from 1st January, 2016, only those auto-vehicles including 2-wheelers having even numbers will run on one day and next day, the vehicles having odd numbers will be permitted to run on the roads of Delhi. This decision will not apply to the ambulances and the vehicles required for emergency services. It is a good decision to reduce the pollution and traffic jams on the roads. Further it will help the public to use the public transport or share with others to reduce the consumption of the petro-products.The category of the vehicles required for emergency services must be restricted to the fire-brigade only. This rule must be made effective for all over India. However, if it is made out to be implemented strictly, it can boost the vehicle industry as those persons who may afford will try to get another vehicle having odd/even number to enable them to move on their choice.

Delhi high court said aptly that living in Delhi is like living in a gas chamber.. According to the statistics Delhi is the most polluted city in the world. Delhi is 5 times more polluted than Beijing. In such conditions, the decision of Delhi high court comes like a whiff of fresh air.

I think this decision is not practical. Delhi govt. should have first talked to traffic police that are they capable of checking numbers of vehicles as this decision requires more numbers of men in traffic police.

They should check vehicle emissions of heavy vehicles first rather than target domestic usage ...The pollution caused by a truck is ten times that of a car , so they need to take action there !

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

As usual when action should have been taken we do not take it. When the situation becomes beyond control then in panic we take impractical decisions. Odd and even days is very difficult to implement. With so many exemptions ultimately it will be the few who will bear the brunt. Many persons will buy a nano and grease RTO officials to give them an additional odd or even number so that they can drive everyday. sales of Nano car may go up.

It is the Delhi High court's verdict. Seeing the extent of Air Pollution in Delhi, the High court of Delhi made this rule mandatory. But it should be effectively implemented. Pollution in the air is in  the most alarming levels which lead to many life threatening ailments.

It is not the verdict of Delhi High Court to allow odd and even cars to be run on odd and even dates. If it is it should be brought to the Court's notice that it is difficult to implement. Other ways of reducing pollution should be investigated. It seems within 48 hours of assuming power the Kejriwal government permitted self audit or declaration by polluting industries in and around Delhi in order to promote ease of business image. Crazy, will a polluting industry accept they are polluting?

Some people will buy more vehicles, one for odd number plate and other for even number plate. And those who cannot afford two vehicles will start using fake number plate.

Anyhow, the decision is taken by whosoever it may be, is to arrest the Air pollution. It should be hailed.

The Delhi government has taken a very welcome step. There is need to reduce vehicles on the road. This can be best done by curtailing personal vehicles and promoting and improving public transport. Not only transport, it will be best use of limited natural resources to promote public assets like libraries, e- libraries, civic facilities, parks etc.

Indirectly the Delhi government wants to fight with central government. All we know that this decision is taken in hurry, and its implementation is not so easy. If this plan fails then Delhi government will say that police is not doing its work and Delhi police is under center. I think there will be conflicts between Delhi police and Delhi government.
