Pink revolution is the name given to manufacture and export of beef. This issue was well encashed by the saffron brigade in last parliamentary elections. However, Menaka Gandhi union ministe rightly says that this is not a religious but ecnomic issue and related to animal rights. as she says, butchers may be from minority community but the manufacturers/ traders/ exporters may be from majority commuinty. No doubt the biggest beneficiaries of the 'pink revoluton' belong to majority community including the followers of Lord Mahavir. Moreover, the govrnment also derives revenue from the pink revolution in shape of corporate tax and central excise. Apparently, this was just election issue and thee is no move to arrest the 'pink revolution'.

I agree with Maneka Gandhi's views that Pink revolution a is all about Animal rights. That is appropriate. and sensible.

There is already a ban on slaughter of cattle. some temples are rescuing cattle in their sanctuaries.

The slaughter of cattle is banned..but I have seen beef is available everywhere..i have seen..in Hyderabad...people openly selling beef on road side..so though ban is in effect..killing has not stopped.

Its simple. Though the law is there, there is no effective implementation

An unimplemented law is as good as no law.

As far as rules and laws are concerned even if they are in place..the action against which a law is made never stops..for example liquor consumption still continues in states where it is banned using other methods..beef selling and buying....are these laws made laws just to remain on paper?
