apparently, there is not enough and effective security in Kaziranga natural habitat to save rhinos from poaching.

I have been visiting Kaziranga since I was in my twenties. I used to stay in Sibsagar a town in Assam famous for ONGC activities. The town is near Kaziranga that makes it easy to reach to this National Park. It used to a lonely place then with very few visitors, a lonely government guesthouse near the gate and few elephants which took three persons at a time. It was lot of fun and the jungle was free from poachers although stray incidents of hunting took place even then.
Now, lot of people go there and many hotels have opened and with so many touring activities there is no alternative for animal but to jump fences. Poaching activities are very common now as guards of the forest keep their eyes closed being silent partners although not all of them are dishonest. Flood is another reason that is making life tough for those animals.

Not only in Kaziranga, in almost every Wildlife sanctuary, rare animals and other rare species are left to their fate. I have seen stray dogs roaming freely and looking hungrily towards exotic birds without a safe protection cover in some of the famous wildlife sanctuaries.

The horns of rhinos are the most precious, as these are used to treat rare diseases, and for this many groups are indulging in haunting them, as only through killing they can remove their horns and most of these are exported and taken by big medicinal companies in preparing some rare medicines of high costs.

Actually, it is believed in some countries that horns of rhinos make good ingredient in medicines for impotency that makes them sell very costly, especially in Chinese market along with organs of lions' , tigers' , snakes, crocodiles, snails etc.

I think a good animal saving act is the need of the hour, with proper implementation of all these acts, animals poaching can be curbed easily. It is high time to create a special task force to safe guard all precious animals which are unique to this part of the earth, instead of holding on poorly guarded forest guards, there should be a specialized force to safe guard animals.

See any wildlife sanctuaries in the country. One will be astonished to see the sorry state of affairs existing there. There are no proper enclosures. There are no adequate security enclosures. The so called natural habitats failed miserably in providing that natural feeling to that animal that its living in its home turf. Many animals try to escape the sanctuaries in search of real natural habitats.

Many a times, due to urbanization and other impacts of development jungles are cut into and homes are built in there, there are many instances of elephant intruding to steel city like Rourkela in last four to five years due to cutting of trees and reducing jungle spaces.

No wonder, these wild animals which feel comfortable in ther natural habitats try to run away from the artificial habitats. In the border of AP and Odisha,Tuskers enter the villages and devastate the crops, creating havoc. The places Sompeta and Tekkali are the affected regions.

Tiger skins are used as the mats for Yoga gurus. Skins of Crocs and some rare species of snakes are being used for hand bags, which are in high demand abroad. Tiger claws embedded in chains are used as a status symbol by the rich and the list goes on. Owing to this reason, poachers go all out for invading a sanctuary.

In the movie 'Khoon bhari maang; the leading character uses whip made of crocodile skin to lash the villain. Crocodile had been used by the villain to kill her husband.
