It's amazing to know that the ancient crocodiles used to run like dogs on the land for chasing it's prey. Now the modern crocks do not possess this trait . Perhaps it's this trait of adjusting itself to the existing conditions made it survive even during the powerful dinosaur days.

Now also crocodiles can come out of water and bask in sunlight. But they can only crawl slowly and not run fast on land.

Yes . They feel that the ability to run on the land is no more necessary. Life has become a bit easy . That's why they leave the old habits. We used to run all the way to post office to send a telegram. Now it's no more necessary. That's why that old habit dies a natural death. This is what Darwin said in his theory of evolution.
