No matter what tools are introduced to ease reporting procedure on social networking sites, women will keep falling victim to undesirable characters, so it is better to use these sites judiciously and limit information about self to a minimum.

The people on street and those on net are same. So, their culture is same. If some one abuses you on street, what you do. This is what we need do on net. It is best to ignore and not respond to undesirable individuals. Also if there is mechanism to bar or block them, this should be done.

Excuse me but for me they are not same. If someone dares to abuse me on streets, he should know me better than that. I do not take lightly even online abusers.

Well said. The panacea for women abuse is either face it or tackle it appropriately.

The individual on Facebook may not be personally known to you but still it is only the real men of flesh and bones who are on Facebook as well as in real life. So, the behavior is identical. Our reaction also has to be similar. I think it is better to concentrate on our activities on net- including Facebook- rather than bothering about stupid abusers. It is no use giving abusive reply to abuser. If you can block or report, do that. Incidentally, I never faces any abuse on Facebook or elsewhere. However there are fanatic individuals on Facebook and even on newspaper internet editions who have no work other than writing abusive and filthy content in Hindi or other local languages in Roman script. We better avoid them. They are not worth any contact.

Yes. I agree with your statement in this regard. I'm a member in Face book.No one has abused me till now. It's because, I simply mind my business. I reciprocate in a similar manner. I entered FB thinking that there is a place for exposing myself to some who are creative. But time has shown me that that there is not even a shred of creativity there. I came to the conclusion that its for those who take being a member and having thousands of friends as friends as a 'status' symbol. This is not my cup of tea. That very moment I decided either to or completely stopping my membership or minimise my activities to the bare minimum and followed it. And another interesting thing is that Boddunan is a site that caters to all my requirements. Like you said, I have a purpose.

It is right some persons used social sites to abuse women. I read today that FB is also going to ban, use FB to abuse women.

It is more difficult to monitor abuses on Facebook as many write in Hindi or other local languages.

Online world is not limited to FBs and twitters but is as big as real world. You cannot ignore and look the other way if someone tries to bully you. You will have to either tell him/her to behave or be ready to face more bullying. But choice certainly is yours. :)
